Christie did give a good performance, I'll give him that. He took on the questions for a marathon run, and that is part of his charm. As to his involvement, I've come to the conclusion, he is in the thick of it.

There's just no way the aide had that kind of authority to give that order to Wildstein.

Maddow last night posited an alternate theory that colors the vendetta from not a retaliation for non-endorsement, but for another imbroglio regarding some rather stunning moves Christie made with Supreme Court justices -- and the NJ Senate president - who represents: Fort Lee.

Her name is Loretta Weinberg, and in 2011, Christie urged reporters to "take a bat to" her.

Anyway, for some bizarre reason, for the first time in NJ history, Christie canned one of the SC Justices in 2010 - []- NJ.com.

It really incensed the dems. So they refused to confirm his next pick. And then his next pick, and his next...Fire was going on regarding this SC battle.

Well, it appears, on Aug 12, 2012 (remember that date) -- was the last straw, when Christie removed from renomination another Supreme Court justice (Helen Hoens) (who is married to a Christie staffer). This is a woman he liked, but he was so mad at Senate Democrats - he canned her. That afternoon he gave the stunning news and late in the day, pulled together a huffy press conference and said:

"I was not going to let her loose to the animals." Yes, Christie called the Senate Democrats animals. He also added: "What the ramifications would be for that going forward, [Senate Democrats] should have thought about before opening their mouths."

Now, go back to the date Bridget gave the "Time for some traffic problems in Fort Lee" order.

That would be the very.next.morning. August 13th. Before 8AM.

Plausible cause? As the saying goes: We report, you decide.

    but he didn't
he made a calculated error by ignoring the issue until the media presented it in such a way that it could no longer be ignored
christie was forced to take this action
character would have been displayed had he done it months ago when that was the right thing to do
all he is doing now is playing victim while simultaneously pretending to take responsibility. too clever by half. but then he need not be very clever to appeal to the lemming on the right
According to him, what he knew months ago did not include the actions we now know occurred, and until such evidence shows he was fully aware of what occurred months ago and covered it up, you're claim is unfounded. Since you want to talk about facts, how about providing an email or some evidence that shows Christie knew what happened months ago? Well, we know that doesn't yet exist yet because you apparently don't like his style or his political party or whatever... you've made the assumption he knew, he's covering up, etc. That's fine, just know that as of today, you're view is not supported by the evidence and therefore is your belief and not fact.

What is a fact, is that Christie held a seminar on how to be a leader. Unlike the the White House who, if we use the bar your claiming as a measurement of competency, should never have been voted in office due to incompetency. Taking shots at Christie is fine but it opens the door to things like the IRS, NSA, Benghazi.... especially Benghazi where people died and the IRS where groups were targeted for political reasons. Lerner got to retire with full benefits and no press conference, no accountability, no responsibility from the President.

Bottom line is, you set the bar very high when it comes to Christie, and then move it to within millimeters of the ground when it comes to a 2 term sitting President. Can you point to all of the scathing posts you've made over the past 5 years stating Obama is incompetent, unworthy of the white house before the 2012 election?

Seems to me this is one of those on-the-one-hand but on-the-other-hand situations ... at least, certainly one ripe for a healthy dose of perspective ...

True. It seems the Republican die-hards don't care because he's their guy. If he were a Dem, the only thing different about this thread would be the party affiliations of who's criticizing and who's deflecting.

We'll see, but maybe we should save that for a thread about Obamacare instead of indulging your desperate deflections.

I don't think that's accurate - who from the Republicans came out to defend Christie before or after the press conference yesterday? I think one did? How about the RNC? Nope. Anyone in congress defend Christie? Nah. So if Christie has Republican die-hards it's not in Washington.
