Christie is very likable. Likable politicians (there isn't that many) can get away with anything. This will do nothing to hurt his chances in 2016. His biggest challenge in 2016 will not being crazy enough for the nutters in the Republican primary base, should he actually get the nomination he would be very formidable in the general election.

As badly as Ailes wants Christie, I've done a double-take.
For those who have been watching FOX all day, not you, they haven't heard the big question:
What did Christie know and when did he know it ?

Do you really think Rand Paul will keep quite about this, after Christie spanked him all last year?

It won't matter. Christie is in a rare club among politicians in that he is a really likable guy. In that club you have guys like FDR, Eisenhower, Reagan, and Clinton. Reagan got away with Iran Contra a scandal that would have easily destroyed the legacy for most presidents. Clinton got away with multiple infidelities and lying about one under oath. FDR got away with numerous abuses of power. They got away with it because people liked them. In the case of FDR, he was one notch below Jesus in most people's book back then. Point being that people like Christie as a person, and it takes a hell of a scandal to take out a guy like that.

it's not so much what candidates will talk about but what voters will care about, at that time

An interesting segment on MSNBC with 'Larry Sabato' discussed the 6 previous realignments in POTUS politics.
I thought Christie could be the 7th, but he has burned his "bridges" with the very NJ Dem voters who gave him his big victory.
Soon we'll hear TEA-candidates like Paul and Cruz pound Christie with it in Iowa and New Hampshire .

And the difference is that no one outside of the far right likes Cruz at all. The guy is about as likable as Al Gore. Rand Paul is not nearly as likable as his dad. They are not going to be able to paint Christie as some Jersey "Huey Long". Then again people liked Huey Long a lot too. Had he not been assassinated he would have gone a long way as well.

I just don't think this will amount to anything in 2 years. Christie's biggest risk is not dropping dead of a heart attack before he can run.

Breitbart had some damning stuff on on Christie today.
These are the people who vote in GOP primaries and Dems may not cross-over now.
They called this bridgegate "impeachable" and there's more .
