Man arrested with cache of guns, explosives

Fiddle and play around with it? Probably not. Have it on my person, loaded? You're damn right it's my right.

Even hiding it between your knees? Hiding a firearm between your knees is bound to cause the officers suspicion.

Other than that, I know that police officers often ask people on routine checks if they are armed, so the person in question probably lied to the officer in the first place.

I don't care if he' hiding the gun in his butt crack.

Would you tell the cop you didn't have a weapon if the cop asked you the question?

I don't think he should ask. He can't ask if you're an illegal alien.

You may not care, but the cop surely would.

Try seeing this issue from the perspective of the police officer.

Perspective of the police officer: a murderer is going to kill me, no matter where the law says he has to store his firearm.

Yes, it is the "perspective of the police officer" at the moment he sees a firearm where a minute before he was told there wasn't one. Not sure what the second part of your statement has to do with the situation that day in Indiana.

He shouldnt have asked.

Thats a generalisation and strongly biased way to put it.

A cop must constantly fear for his life and be aware of potential threats to himself.

I would rather see some people scream out "scandal" when a cop arrests someone who didn`t have bad intentions, than seeing a cop injured or killed during duty because he was scared of a potential public outcry resulting out of his actions.

He was not a murderer, nor was he aggressive.

Yes, and to prevent that, I'm going to draw my own weapon and yank his ass out of the car before he has a chance. I'm glad we've come to an agreement on the subject.

Oh, big police supporter are you? Let me ask, do you think Abu Jamal is a political prisioner?

Mumia Abu Jamal

The man was convicted for murder by a a court after being found guilty by a jury. Who am I to question that?

Other than that, what does that have to do with my previously made statement?

And in the process of yanking him out of his car, while you're holding an unsafteyed pistol, you'te going to accidentally discharge your weapon and shoot the guy, then your butt will go to prison.

Interesting reason the first officer started asking questions of the man

an update on the story

Yes, I know you love the idea of an authoritarian state....

Define "bomb" anyways???

I own guns and do make M80's - does that mean I'm a terrorist? (of course I am to socialists and progressives)..

I never let cops search my car, even if I have nothing to hide. Hell, I just got off of a year mandatory suspension of my license because I refused to blow on a DUI stop and I wasn't even drunk or was drinking. That's how I value my rights, and I WILL stand up for them.

Did you ignore the suspension and drive your vehicle anyway?

How intelligent.

We are in awe.

What was the 'win' here?

What was the 'win' here?

The win is standing up for your civil rights....

I wasn't charged with any crime, there was just a "mandatory" one year suspension if you don't blow into their BAC detector... IMO, blowing into a BAC detector is a violation of the Fourth Amendment. I'm not going to sit here and have tyranny committed against me if I have something to say about it.... Furthermore blowing is admitting guilt, which violates the Fifth Amendment (unless a defendant chooses to waive that right)....

It's a win for me and it's a win for civil liberties..... Unless they had a warrant to seize my body fluids - then they have no right telling me to blow into a BAC meter.

I wasn't pulled for suspicion of drunk driving - I was pulled because my turn signal was busted - I merely refused to submit to the BAC test.
