Man arrested with cache of guns, explosives

Speeding is a violation of the law. Speeding in and of itself offers no other reason to go past issuing a citation. To believe it does is the subjective determination.

The law is sophistry.

It is still permitted by law, whether one agrees with it or not.

Speeding while having provocative signs on your vehicle I don't see as probable cause. That would allow the police a much broader license than perhaps you're realizing.

Speeding is cause to pull you over. A visible gun when you've told the officer you don't have one is cause for a search.

I didn't say anything to the contrary.

Well, nobody thinks the bumper stickers were PC to search the vehicle. But that's not why the vehicle was searched.

Snort - is just keeps getting better and better:

Man found with guns, bombs in van says they were for training | The Columbus Dispatch

Some of the bombs were built into 5-Hour Energy bottles; troopers found the small bottles with wires sticking through their caps inside a bag in Boguslawski’s backseat. Prosecutors say they are unclear whether the plans were for the facility where Boguslawski works.

Boguslawski, of Moores Hill, Ind., told the trooper that the gun was for a concealed-carry training class, and that the holster holding it was something he had made, according to the trooper’s report. But when investigators searched concealed-carry permits in both Indiana and Ohio, they found no evidence that Boguslawski had a permit for the weapons. He previously had a concealed-carry permit in Ohio, the trooper wrote, but that permit expired in 2008.

He told the trooper that the bombs were smoke bombs that “are used for suicide-bomber training,” according to the trooper’s report.

This clown is way out where the buses don't run.

maybe though a good defense attorney is going to claim that the bumper stickers don't give rise to probable cause

The search wasn't intitiated over the sticker though. The sticker merely prompted a question about weapons. Which, when it was found out the driver provided false information for, served as the impetus for the officer to detain and search him.

I didnt get that he was pulled over due to the weapons suspicion...but that he asked about weapons due to the bumper sticker. The probable cause thing comes from seeing the butt of the weapon between his legs, right? (NOT a lawyer BTW...)

that was my take

Maybe they were firecrackers!
Or maybe the guy didn't have anything in his car and the cops invented the whole thing!

Am I doing it right?

mentos and diet pepsi ...

I think he should still be around. Hang up the jackboots, give the gov the MRAPs back, that sort of thing.

I like the first. Not nervous about approaching and asking for directions....don't have to worry about them executing your dog....
The upper pic is some Norman Rockwell fantasy land. It was never like that.

So....good job, cops?

Oh no! You can't say that! All cops are fascists that beat and shoot children and rape women. Whoops, sorry, I was watching MSNBC and started quoting them.

Thank you officers for saving yet more lives. Bless you.

You may have been watching MSNBC but you certainly weren't listening to the channel

But the ice cream shop cop is wearing jack boots himself.

So you think they should show up to stand offs and hostage situations in Impalas with .38 cal revolvers?

How many of these stand-offs do we see? The apologists will refer to L.A....about 20 years ago.

See, SWAT has the toys.

Problem is, all cops now look like swat, carry swat gear, dress like they are about to invade poland, and generally hold the same mindset as SWAT....jackboot.

Now swat seems to think this is Afghanistan....they forget about that whole constitution thing.
The no-knocks (which recently got two cops killed in TX, and 6 killed in NH), the dog executions, the 'whoops wrong house' that seems to be happening more and more. I'm sorry, but if someone kicks in my door without announcing themselves...to me....I assume home invasion, and I grab my AR and plate carrier sitting on top of it. How it goes from there...well that's not in my hands anymore, but I shoot competitively (3-gun) and it will hell for anyone that is invading my home, I am no push-over joe bob rocking a mossberg 500. The biggest threat we face right now as a country is the depletion of the 4th, 10th, and 2nd amendments. This new mentality indoctrinated in the academy that this is a warzone is a serious issue. They behave like everyone is a potential enemy combatant, not a citizen with rights.

Basically, militarization of the police is a HUGE issue.

Yea, if you are a scaredy cat pansy. We have a decent sized modern PD. Most wear a regular uni. Some where bloused pant legs and some have high and tight hair cuts.

The high and tight fellows I'm assuming are fresh academy grads or new-ish guys? Very different attitude from the old school guys. That's the case up here in MA at least.

I don't think anyone is suggesting that bloused pant legs or short hair is militarization.

Look like motorcycle boots actually. Actually I'm almost positive those were the norm motorcycle police issue boot.

And where do you think the term "jack booted thug" came from. My father was a motorcycle cop in DC for many years, even wore leather gauntlet gloves. All buckled down he looked like he was ready for combat. Because he was.
You people that never once strapped on a uniform other than little league need to take a chill pill.

And neither is buying the latest tech in armor, transport and weaponry.

Just to check, were you suggesting that bloused pants and short hair is militarization?

Only in the bedroom, along with a riding crop and a military saddle....
