Okay, then he's on the hook for the charges. My point wasn't to quibble about the question of weapons once he was stopped.

Speeding while having provocative signs on your vehicle I don't see as probable cause. That would allow the police a much broader license than perhaps you're realizing.

They can also run plates even before they stop you, no Constitutional violation there.

Speeding is all the cause the cop needed. WHY he pulled him over is the officer's discretion, and even if profiled, subjective intentions play no role in ordinary fourth amendment analysis, that is the law.

Speeding is a violation of the law. Speeding in and of itself offers no other reason to go past issuing a citation. To believe it does is the subjective determination.

    The law is sophistry.

It is still permitted by law, whether one agrees with it or not.

Speeding is cause to pull you over. A visible gun when you've told the officer you don't have one is cause for a search.

I didn't say anything to the contrary.

Well, nobody thinks the bumper stickers were PC to search the vehicle. But that's not why the vehicle was searched.

Snort - is just keeps getting better and better:

Man found with guns, bombs in van says they were for training | The Columbus Dispatch

Some of the bombs were built into 5-Hour Energy bottles; troopers found the small bottles with wires sticking through their caps inside a bag in Boguslawski’s backseat. Prosecutors say they are unclear whether the plans were for the facility where Boguslawski works.

Boguslawski, of Moores Hill, Ind., told the trooper that the gun was for a concealed-carry training class, and that the holster holding it was something he had made, according to the trooper’s report. But when investigators searched concealed-carry permits in both Indiana and Ohio, they found no evidence that Boguslawski had a permit for the weapons. He previously had a concealed-carry permit in Ohio, the trooper wrote, but that permit expired in 2008.

He told the trooper that the bombs were smoke bombs that “are used for suicide-bomber training,” according to the trooper’s report.
