Ohio killer to get 2-drug injection untried in US

Your argument is nonetheless incoherent.:peace

Demonstrate why.

I'll post it again. Tackle each premise, please.

P1: Murder is immoral
P2: Convicted criminals are not always guilty
P3: Life is preferable to death
=
C: The death penalty is immoral and is not preferable to life in prison

Demonstrate why.

I'll post it again. Tackle each premise, please.

The problem is not the truth or falsehood of any of the three statements, but that they bear no relationship to one another. A syllogism to make your argument would be:

P1: Murder is immoral.
P2: Capital punishment is murder.
P3: Therefore capital punishment is immoral.

or

P1: It is immoral to execute even one innocent person.
P2: Some convicted criminals are innocent.
P3: It is therefore immoral to execute convicted criminals.:peace

Thanks for refining my jumbled thoughts.

I then ask you to tackle the arguments that you have laid out :peace

Comparing abortion to the death penalty is entirely erroneous. In order for abortion to be illegal regardless if the unborn is deemed a person or not you must accept the premise that it is ok to force someone to serve someone else. Furthermore, since we can assume the government is not involved directly we can safely say the government is not killing human beings. Of course, due to current involvement in the matter we can not say the government is not involved in the killing of human beings indirectly. The death penalty doesn't involve matters of servitude, but is simply the government killing their own citizens for breaking laws they deem permit the punishment of death.

As others have stated previously, the man both raped and murdered a pregnant woman. I'm not entirely distraught at the prospect of his death being slightly more painful than the usual treatment.

I am hoping that it is.

Ah ok, I got your position. You don't care if innocent people are killed in the pursuit of killing guilty people. Got it.

He didnt say that. But we do exactly what you said in war. And in 'the war on terrorism.' And in invasions, like Iraq.

You are grasping at straws. We all have countless relationships in which we serve someone else. That's called society. Abortion and capital punishment obviously diverge in important respects, but they have enough in common to be disconcerting. The taking of innocent life is cited by the opponents of both. Reduced personhood, in some sense, is cited by the advocates of both. What is striking is that so often the advocates of one are the opponents of the other. To me, this has always represented an incoherence.:peace

tell that to the victims families

Ugh. So as an update....it took this guy 15 minutes to die, in convulsions.

How incompetent are they? This is just ridiculous. It's not like you can give him an overdose for God's sake.

I wonder how long it took his victim and her unborn child to die? I have a hard time finding any sympathy for this guy.

Almost 25 minutes.

No convulsions, just loud snorting.

His family says they will sue.

No sympathy here.

His snorting will be nothing when compared to burning in Hell.

TV news is still reporting convulsions and gasping. Who knows when it will all settle out?

I wonder if his victim was convulsing and gasping as he was murdering her and her unborn child?

Is there there a point to your posts? Do you expect an answer to your inflammatory speculation?

Here's a question...am I for or against the death penalty?

the point is, his family is all upset because he didn't just fade away peacefully. I am just wondering if they ever game a second's thought to the manner in which his victim died.

dude got what he deserved. the only sympathy I have for the family is that they had such a piece of **** for a father.

The reason I am against capital punishment has nothing to do with the perp, I merely regret someone did not plug him before he killed someone. My problem with CP is the lack of respect for life demonstrated by the government involved. I care not for them, I am concerned aobut a society that would kill someone that is no longer a threat to that society.
