so overturning the ban was stiffer gun control laws? Its fun seeing you be WRONG 100% of the time

I just add 1+1= which apparently coincidentally equals 2..
As others have noted, the Chicago gun control laws were tossed out in the courts this past year - if you believe in coincidence, you could argue that more legal guns in the hands of the public made those with illegal guns in their hands less likely to use them.

For me, the answer probably lies in more police work, more police outreach, and more community involvement as a result of the outcry about young black children being murdered in the streets. I'd be more inclined to think it had to do with black leaders and concerned citizens speaking out against the violence in their communities. If "gun control" in whatever form was responsible, you'd have more than a 20% drop, wouldn't you?

What was all of that Republican rhetoric about failed gun control laws?
Crime, especially violent crime, has fallen nationally for the past twenty years. Wouldn't you consider it possible that there are larger more impactful macrotrends that are playing a role here than something as simple as gun control?

While the article also mentions things such as more police officers posted in high crime areas with more overtime being paid, other articles also mention that thousands of guns were pulled from those areas where those police officers patrolled.
Just out of curiosity...are you a big supporter of the random stop and frisk police tactic employed to check random citizens for weapons?

And we would all I'm sure still love to see which new handgun laws are being employed that are targeting criminals.

Having officers on the street actually enforcing gun control made the difference.

That's still over 4 times as many deaths as London and London is one of the largest cities in the world. Me thinks Chicago has some work to do.

Wait! You mean there is gun crime in, and around London?

Why how can that be? I thought having a gun was illegal in London?

Surely the strict gun control laws have resulted in a zeroing of gun crimes? No? Hmmmmm.....
