While the article also mentions things such as more police officers posted in high crime areas with more overtime being paid, other articles also mention that thousands of guns were pulled from those areas where those police officers patrolled.
I wonder if the population stayed steady during this time or did it drop/rise?
I think if Thomas Jefferson were looking down, the author of the Bill of Rights, on whats being proposed here, hed agree with it. He would agree that the First Amendment cannot be absolute. - Chuck Schumer (D). Yet, Madison and Mason wrote the Bill of Rights, according to Sheila Jackson Lee, 400 years ago. Yup, it's a fact.

I am sure you can find SOME reason why it had nothing to do with gun control. If you look close enough at any situation, you will find the evidence you need to continue deceiving yourself.

So in other words, enough things happened that the reason a murder rate went from 50/100,000 to 43/100,000, can only be speculated. My speculation was the larger policing effort.

The way to look at data like this is by percent, which will show the true impact.

Generally, the number is given as murders per 100,000 population, which represents a percentage.

This will account for population variances over time, and reflect the truth of the numbers.

Your question is very valid, and reflects mathematical accuracy.

ETA - looks like the problem is getting accurate population numbers.
The only info that I found showed about 2.7 million, but no concrete data for 2012 and 2013.
I expect the mayor and his team to spin the numbers and make it look as good as they can.

Is it your belief that gun control is the reason that the very high gun crime rate in Chicago is still very high but shootings and shooting victims have decreased from 2012 levels?

Same way that you attributed the drop to guns removed from the streets.

Your dishonesty and hypocrisy are quite apparent.

    1. Good. The trend across the Western World has been downward for some time, and it is excellent to see that Chicago is part of that.

    2. The recent movement in Illinois and Chicago has been in favor of greater access to guns on the part of the citizenry, not less. Gun Control Advocates may want to pause before they celebrate the "success" of their preferred policies.
