I think I read that they tried to have some sort of special ice busting ship get to them and even that couldn't get through.

The rescue ships from China and the Aussie ship were both icebreakers.

The Aussie ship could break ice up to 1 meter thick (!!!!!), but the ice there was thicker than that, so they had to steer back to open water.

Here's a picture of the global warming activists who were convinced they would find proof of thin melting ice.

They were all rescued but the 22 crew members remained. I wonder for how long? There will have to be numerous missions for supplies alone I can't even begin to guess how much money this little escapade is going to end up costing. Will it be the people of Australia that pays? Someone is going to have to.

According to the moonbats profiting off of idiocy, our polar caps were essentially going to be melted by 2020. Well, they've got 6 years to make good on it, unfortunately for them....the caps are growing.

Quick, it's global cooling, someone start more solar companies using tax money and then move the money made off shore ::cough crony capitalism solyndra cough cough::

This is the biggest scam in history, perpetrated by the left, and the orchestrators of it are pocketing billions. Unbeknownst to the poor sheep that are doing their dirty work, they were pawns in a financial scheme. Innocent little serfs following the omniscience of Gore on all things environmental. I do feel bad, because these people bought it hook line and sinker, meanwhile Gores net worth increases exponentially at the cost of their hard work to solve a problem that doesn't exist. Snake oil.

I do think we need to help our environment, we pollute and kill ecosystems, let's concentrate of that. However we are not causing this completely whacked theory of global warming.
 
This story is about as ironic as a climate change denier getting a sunburn. I think Schadenfreud is a much better fit.

The ice caps are growing, hurricanes are few, and the shorelines haven't risen as you predicted.

Can't wait to hear you guys take "credit" for stopping global warming in its tracks in 10 years.

What the alarmists either don't understand, or think think they can lie to the people about, is that it is the suns irradiance changes that has the greatest effect on the caps. the TSI may change only a fraction of a percent during the averaging of the 11/22 year cycle, but as you go into the blue and ultraviolet range... it can be several percent of an increase at the UV spectra. Here is where the varying ozone layers and holes play a major role as well.

Note that the water next to the ice is going to absorb a very significant part of the 200 nm to 300 nm spectra which changes so much more than most the rest of the sun that we can measure.

I laugh when people claim the extra CO2 is melting the ice. CO2 radiates out at the same spectra it absorbs. If you look at the marked spectral areas marked for CO2, it is absorbed in the very surface of the water at the micron level. Note... 1000 microns = 1 mm...

The more prominent CO2 band (right) is absorbed within 3 microns of the water. With virtually no penetration, it is quickly radiated back out to space and vaporizes a small amount of water, which actually cools the water. The less prominent CO2 band (middle circle) has virtually no power to vibrate with, but will penetrate almost 1/10th of a millimeter!

With this latest solar cycle being calm, and the next one or more expected to be less intense yet, the alarmists and the warmer cult followers are going to be exceptionally surprised.

Yes, the norther cap has extensively melted while the southern ice has been insignificant in its changes. I give you all the only AGW reason...

It's called soot on ice.

The point is that it's not irony when something bad happens to someone who holds a position you to disagree with. This is not irony any more than it would be ironic if a climate change denier got a sunburn. You can be a climate change denier and still believe in the sun, much in the same way as those who accept climate change can still believe in very cold weather.

Irony requires a twist; ie when an effect is realized because of actions taken to avoid it. It would be ironic if they people on the ice breaker didn't believe in ice, and then became trapped in what they didn't believe in. It's ironic when people try to use a weather event as evidence for a climatic argument; because the only thing it proves is the ignorance of the one making the argument.
