Utah. Gay marriage. Boy Scouts. Pizza. Say no more

(CNN) -- Amid the women in lacy wedding veils and the men in spiffy suits at the county clerk's office was Peter Brownstein. He'd replaced the blue neckerchief of his Scoutmaster's uniform with one in the colors of the rainbow, the colors of gay pride. He carried boxes of hot pepperoni and cheese pizzas in his arms. And by his side, he had his son Michael, a 14-year-old Eagle Scout.
Brownstein, 52, had gone down to the Salt Lake City office to bear witness to a marriage. What he found Monday morning was a line that snaked along halls on two floors of the building. Gay couples had rushed in to tie the knot after a district judge struck down Utah's ban on same-sex marriage. Mayor Ralph Becker called it a "thrilling pandemonium."
Many had been waiting for hours. Some brought along children in strollers. They were all hungry. As were the employees of the clerk's office, who skipped lunch to process the crush of marriage certificate applications.
Brownstein went down to the Little Caesar's and picked up 10 pizzas. He and Michael handed out slices to the employees and the couples waiting to wed.
Their generosity was appreciated. Their courage, noticed.

The legalization of gay marriage throughout America is inevitable...and that is a good thing.

Ugh and here in NE we have a state constitutional ban. There has been talk of trying to overturn it but we'll see.

I just love that top picture with the boy smiling. He just looks so happy and proud, which he should be. That was a very kind gesture to do.
I call my own shots, largely based on an accumulation of data, and everyone knows it.

1.) Keep hope! look how much the good guys and equality is winning, also the reality is the bans are what is HELPING equality win which i think is hilarious and poetic justice.

When push comes to shove and this things actually go to high courts its the ban that is deemed unequal and i love it! The very thing that the bigots and or supporters of discrimination and inequality is whats helping establish it. Makes me laugh.

2.) Agreed, i would feel the same way and will probably use this idea when it finally comes to my state. Its an awesome gesture during a time when an injustice and human/legal/civil rights violation is being fixed.

There's actually a couple of pizza joints here that have such good pizza I'd marry one.
Give a man a fish and he can eat for a day. Teach a man to fish and he can sit in a boat, drinking beer all day while you fool around with his Woman.

Well....you know that's the next step down the slippery slope. What is going to stop a man from marrying his pizza?

That was a really nice, generous gesture.
