Federal authorities charge white ‘knockout’ suspect with hate crime

Dont give me any justice for slavery bull****. None of these kids have ever been slaves, none of their victims have been slave owners. That is completely rediculous. Every race at some point has been slaves, and slave owners. It is part of the past of humans. Unless you have some actual evidence that these kids were enslaved by these victims. Because to say that a long time ago someone the same color as me was enslaved by someone the same color as him somehow justifies any type of action whatsoever in the name of justice is racist in itself.
Ridiculous or not it exists and it's not some underground idea either. Slavery ended 160 years ago yet there are many of all races that still live with the idea that someone owes them for their ancestors (whether they actually had ancestors or not who were slaves) pain. I'm not advocating this idea, I'm simply saying it exists and it's part of the "white guilt" that race hucksters like Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton and others continue to push generation over generation. My point here is connecting the dots.

Fair enough. I took your point wrong before.

Probably the reason the feds got in the picture is to try to change the view that the "knock out game" is something only African-Americans do - thus try to gain publicity by prosecuting a white guy.

Because the nature of the assault is such as to have a real possibility of causing death or permanent brain damage, it should be treated as attempted murder in all instances. It does knock people out whose head then hits the concrete hard - and that is known can be lethal.

Seriously? If a single punch is now attempted murder then we will likely see a huge decrease in successful prosecution (attempted murder is much harder to prove than simple assault) and a huge increase in validated street executions. If I goad someone into striking me (attempted murder) then obviously I can shoot them for making that attempt.

Well... I guess the knock out game isn't a myth now! /smh

The elevation of assault to a super crime based on motive, victim/perp status is stupid and should be unconstitutional. Much like selling cocaine in crack form is considered a more serious crime than selling cocaine in powdered form.

The last similar crime elevation (that I can recall) was for carjacking and for much the same reasons - the class of the normal victim/perp. The crime of carjacking originated simply because many vehicle security systems actually work and are hard for morons to defeat; it is easier to wait for the soccer mom to first unlock and start the vehicle (at the mall) and then take it. Carjacking is already two serious crimes, motor vehicle theft and (often) armed robbery - but those crimes typically got lighter sentences and the victims were not normally soccer moms. So society invented the new offense of carjacking rather than simply apply harsher penalties for the original crimes.

I see the "knock out" assault crime in the same way; it is outrageous that "they" would hit "us". This allows elevation of assault to a new super crime in only some cases, but leaves a wrist slap sentence available for most "regular" assaults.

The reason this was prosecuted as a hate crime is because the assailant used demeaning racial epithets and said that blacks hadn't fully "experienced the blessing of evolution" in other videos he made. So we already know that the assailant is a racist and so when he attacked this black man, it was seen as a hate crime.

once again.... why should anyone be surprised??? This administration has been racially motivated from the get-go. So much for equal protection under the law. All crimes are hate crimes, the distinction is of little value except to the professionally entitled.

I don't think there is much question at all that there was a racial element to this assault but other similar assaults have also had a racial or ethnic element to them and the DoJ has not bothered to get involved.

Odd that we have heard about so many black assailants but none have been charged with hate crimes......coincidence......maybe

The DoJ is picking a case they know they can win.

Nobody in their right mind is going to get bent out of shape is this guy gets the full meal deal. He deserves it.

If, on the other hand, they were to pick a black kid that hit a white woman or a jew or a teacher there would be a public outcry that they were over-charging a kid who was a victim of his environment. That's just kind of the way things are today. We've managed, with the best of intentions, to reduce expectations of and in the black community to the point where criminal behavior is simply accepted as a part of life.

yeah, it is their environment, they can't help it. That is what I like about where I live, there is no special treatment for crime, black or white.

It takes a special kind of moron to not only record themselves committing a crime, but to assert that race was key in their victim selection. Getting proof, much less voluntarily supplied by the perp, for a hate crime is very difficult. Simply observing a racial difference in perp/victim is not sufficient to "prove" a hate crime.

Not to mention, it's really hard to feel indignant about some **** getting railroaded after punching a 79 year old man

I think it is a little odd that if a black kid plays this "game" on a white victim it is a crime. Now that we have this instance of a white kid "playing" with a black victim now it is a hate crime.

no, it's because the guy stated in the video he was looking to specifically attack a black person.

actually there was one other similar case prosecuted as a hate crime that involved a jewish man

before the crime and on the very video of the crime

well that does paint somewhat of a different picture but there are lots of attacks involving blacks/whites that never get charged as hate crimes

It's in the very article from the other thread you started. Why not try to read what you post in the future, especially if you're going to get outraged over it?

Second, while I think hate crime laws are dumb and their is often a double standard in how such things are handled by the authorities and viewed by society, you can't really claim a disparity unless there are similar circumstances

I am not outraged, bad assumption on your part. Democrats have brought us to this junction, I will be glad when people stand up and say enough.
