Federal authorities said Thursday they have arrested and charged a Texas man in connection with the “knockout game,” accusing him of a hate crime for targeting a black man for a vicious street attack.Most knockout victims that have appeared in news reports have been white, but the Justice Department said in this instance the victim was a 79-year-old black man, and stepped in with federal charges.

Wow, can we ignore the story posted for more MEANINGLESS ****ing semantic twisting? I knew some of the less honest folks here would try to deflect elsewhere but damn, ya'll sunk to a new level of absurdity.

Hundreds of "Knockout game" victims, all white. No federal involvement, a black man get's hit by a white guy and Holder is all on that. THAT's the story, and you two are mired in "Well it's TREND that's a myth so see you're wrong (giggle!)"

I have, I haven't seen people say the GAME itself is a myth, only the trend. Maybe you would like to show me where people are saying the game itself is a myth?

It takes a special kind of moron to not only record themselves committing a crime, but to assert that race was key in their victim selection. Getting proof, much less voluntarily supplied by the perp, for a hate crime is very difficult. Simply observing a racial difference in perp/victim is not sufficient to "prove" a hate crime.
 
Probably the reason the feds got in the picture is to try to change the view that the "knock out game" is something only African-Americans do - thus try to gain publicity by prosecuting a white guy.

Because the nature of the assault is such as to have a real possibility of causing death or permanent brain damage, it should be treated as attempted murder in all instances. It does knock people out whose head then hits the concrete hard - and that is known can be lethal.

They convince their readers/viewers of a vicious campaign to knock out white people...one of their readers/viewers are CONVINCED! it's a wide spread phenomenon not getting enough attention so they record themselves saying this

I think it is a little odd that if a black kid plays this "game" on a white victim it is a crime. Now that we have this instance of a white kid "playing" with a black victim now it is a hate crime. Some of the videos that I have seen of this "game" black kids are specifically pointing out white people. I'm not really sure that in either instance it is a hate crime, however, if one is they should have been looking at this for all these assholes. Hell, even if you were to take out the race factor, generally speaking these people are targeting the elderly. All these guys have a target type of some sort in mind.
 
Hate crime legislation is just utter stupidity writ large. A Crime is a Crime is a Crime.

Imagine, a white man attacks and beats another white man, he get's say 2 years in Jail for it.

Another White man attacks a black man, he get's 10 years in Jail.

Both attacks are basically the same in injuries to the victims, but in one, "race" mattered (I use white and black as just examples, insert any you want okay ppl) and thus was one persons pain is less important that another persons. It is all hogwash if you ask me.

It depends on the situation - if the white kid specifically targeted a black person... yes it SHOULD be the same the other way around as well.

If the target isn't race specific or picked because of their race - then I'd suspect it's not a hate crime - just a crime of opportunity. Same with the elderly. However, the double standard of white on black = race hate and black on white = "justice" for hundreds of years of slavery; those things are alive and well 160+ years after slavery was outlawed by the United States.

Dont give me any justice for slavery bull****. None of these kids have ever been slaves, none of their victims have been slave owners. That is completely rediculous. Every race at some point has been slaves, and slave owners. It is part of the past of humans. Unless you have some actual evidence that these kids were enslaved by these victims. Because to say that a long time ago someone the same color as me was enslaved by someone the same color as him somehow justifies any type of action whatsoever in the name of justice is racist in itself.

The concept of hate crimes is moronic. Charge people for the crime they commit. Attempted murder...yep...that sounds about right.
 
How is something sporadically practiced in the 80's, leading to fatalities, with increasing incidents over the last 3 years and spreading to many cities across the country not a 'trend'? It is an increasing pattern of activity. That people are today even TALKING about it shows a 'trend'. Is it an 'epidemic'? No...but a trend? Absolutely.
