Woman fired for Aids Africa tweet. [W:38:54]

Re: Woman fired for Aids Africa tweet.

Yeah, that's racist too...You're batting a thousand.....

Lol - no it's not. Your feigned outrage fools nobody here.

Re: Woman fired for Aids Africa tweet.

Honestly, I wish there was a show like that. I would definitely watch it. I would ask though, why do you think there isn't a show?
IMO, and this is just my opinion, the person who made such a show would have to be beyond reproach. That person couldn't be white lest they be accused of not REALLY knowing what goes on in poor black neighborhoods (there would be some legitimacy to that). It couldn't be person seen as an opportunist that is capitalizing on the plight of blacks in America. There are few people in Hollywood that could do that. I don't think Tyler Perry could do it. He's made a joke of himself. Although he has the background to be able to do it. I don't know if Spike Lee has that in him anymore. John Singleton might be able to but he didn't grow up like most young black men (he had a mother and father who both had jobs and stayed together). Denzel had a rough childhood but, again, had a mother and father. Robert Townsend is one who could do it. 50 Cent would be awesome. It would have to be someone who grew up in poverty without a father IMO. I think that person could make this show and not be criticized for it. They would also be able to tap into their life experience to write the show.

The problem is these shows exist but they're considered "ground breaking". I remember when The Wire came out. It was shocking to show inner city youths and what they actually go through. I admit, I loved that show as well as Oz. They both seemed like honest portrayals of issues which the black community actually deals with (high incarceration rates, drug use, violence) and portrayed characters as humans with flaws. Essentially, HBO succeeded where BET, MTV, ABC, NBC and many other failed. They gave a realistic account of life in black communities and gave portrayals of real black people. That's where I think the "left wing media" failed blacks. They keep painting us as all being successful and all being level headed, when as a community we are most certainly not.

Don't get me wrong, I definitely understand the thought behind all those positive black family images. However, all they've done is create a serious disconnect between who blacks perceive they are and the communities so many of us live in. I also stress that they are not representative of blacks in general and that's what is needed. We need accurate representations of black environments modern and past.

I think the Barbershop movie almost started down that path. They gave an environment which as a youth I experienced "the black barbershop". Then, they made it into one long joke. Another movie which kind of touched on a similar path was American Gangster. Putting aside all the obvious fabrications, it gave an accurate account of violent black gangsterism in the US during the 70s. Again, this is because the film makers made an effort to show it without falling into the traps of the "redeemed gangster" or the "gangster with the heart of gold" that so many filmmakers fall into.

American Gangster was a GREAT movie man. One of my favorites. Good post man. I appreciate it.

The wire, OZ, or any other TV show that you think shows what inner city youths go through is complete bull****. They are all cheap bull**** designed to show middle and upper class America what they want to believe it is like. Go hang out in an inner city, or spend some time in prison. While these shows were entertaining they were far from accurate.

Just cause you say so don't make it so.

You could look it up, go to an inner city or a prison. Just because HBO says its real doesnt make it so either. Its a bunch of overdramatised drama glorifying certain lifestyles. Again go to an inner city rather than relying on fictional tv to decide what its like.

What, and blow his whole narrative on why his own white guilt is in the way of him looking at things honestly? Good luck.

Glorifying? You're from the same group of people who think any depiction of things you don't like is validating it. Lolz. If you think showing the very real high crime, homophobia, corruption, violence, etc in the black community/jail is glorifying any of it, you need to get back on this planet. What's next? Schindler's List was a glorification of Germans during WWII?

Or maybe he just doesn't like falsehoods being spread by people about others in order to smear them.

So what you're saying is that is that:

1. There is no outrageously high violent crime rates in inner cities and these shows make it up.
2. There is no high corruption in inner cities and these shows make it up.
3. There aren't extremely complicated relationships based on everything from crime, corruption, drug use, love feuds going on in jail?

Yep. You've definitely jumped off the deep end on this one.

Nice strawmen you have there...Why don't you just stick to what I do say, instead of inventing things....If you can.

Nope. That's essentially what Kreton is arguing. Again, if you had actually followed the conversation from the beginning instead of just chiming in to root for whomever you thought benefited whatever non-point you have today.

Oh, I've been following it just fine thanks...Unless you feel the need for me to trumpet a point I agree with. You're just mad that I revealed your stupid argument for what it was....Pure trash.

... Eh... Revealed what exactly? Show us the post? Sneering and saying "nuh-uh" doesn't really make you win an argument.

I don't have to re post what was said, you have the ability to go back and read it for yourself....And before you come in here and say 'ah ha, see, you won't even show me', I am not here to do your bidding. You are not making yourself look any more intellectual with this game you are playing.

What I am saying is don't believe something just because it is shown on tv. There are plenty of opportunities you can be involved in in any number of inner cities. See it yourself and stop basing your views on what HBO tells you. The Wire does glorify many things involved. Same with Oz. TV is not real. You should really understand that by this point in your life.

Re: Woman fired for Aids Africa tweet.

I hope she doesn't get raped by an A.I.D.S. infectee or gets a corrupt blood infusion. She may learn that A.I.D.S. is transmitted by a virus and thus not prone to racism, bigotry, or other forms of bias.

You are aware while the above is true, infection rates are heavily influenced by racial demographics due to how these things are often tied to poverty, education, etc? So while there isn't a direct connection between what race you are and if you will get aids (being black won't cause you to get aids), it does influence the likelihood you may be infected due to the various things such is indirectly related to

Re: Woman fired for Aids Africa tweet.

Are you going to tell me that you find that tweet funny, and not racist?

I find it both funny and racist

Re: Woman fired for Aids Africa tweet.

Makes you wonder how someone like that got to be a Public Relation Executive.

lol, that's the funniest part~!!!
