I agree with you about Scalia. My point is that if even Scalia sees this issue as dead on arrival, thats a clear indication of the fact that the war is over.

There is nothing left to be done, except watch the remaining pieces fall. I'm sorry dude....I know that you want it to be otherwise, but the war is over. Like I said, cling to the last vestiges of hope for as long as you can if it makes you feel more comfortable...but marriage equality will be the law of this great country. Sorry...that's just how it is.

Keep repeating it long enough and maybe it'll be true. But really, has that worked for you in the past? It's like a Agent J style argument without the lists.

    Keep on hopin' there.

From my understanding it looks like there wasn't a law properly defining marriage and in the absense of such a law under NM state constitution you can't deny homosexuals the ability to apply for a marriage certificate.

Yeah. I think New Mexico was one of those weird states that didn't explicitly ban same-sex marriage, but it also didn't explicitly allow it. I'm surprised the discrepancy lasted this long.

The problem with Tigger's assessment is it's not the business' fault that the state's Appeals Court has upheld gay marriage or overturned gay marriage bans. He's boycotting the wrong business end of the stick. If you don't want to do contract work with the New Mexico state legislature, fine. But the franchise that happens to have its headquarters in New Mexico shouldn't be made to suffer from a lack of business just because their state's legal system upheld an equal protection you disagree with.

It has nothing to do with anything of the sort. It has to do with the damage done to my soul, and our societal soul by these people even being in our presence. My response to any man hitting on me would be two rounds to his chest.

Actually, yes I do. I try not to deal with most of the major retailers if I can help it, and buy most of my groceries, clothes, firearms, etc.... through small, family-owned businesses where I can get a much better idea as to the social leanings of the business owners. It's more expensive, but it's worth it.

Not it's American history, since it only entered the United States in 1848 as a territory and 1912 as a state. Whatever it was prior to that is really irrelevant.

I'm talking about personal business, not corporate business. Thankfully, in the small amount of research I was able to do this weekend, it doesn't appear that I do significant personal business with any companies that are based in New Mexico.
