Re: Merkel compared NSA to Stasi in heated encounter with Obama

In the final count, no, there is a dimes thickness of difference in the two parties. Both of them are responsible for our state of affairs. Fourth amendment violations began to alarm some of us during the Bush admin. And have continued and ratcheted UP during Obama's administration. Bush took office with a 5 trillion dollar debt and doubled it to 10. Obama took office with a 10 trillion dollar debt and is on schedule to double it to 20. Federal aid programs have increased right on through Bush, Clinton, Bush, Obama. Is somebody here going to tell me that if the next president is a republican, Surveillance of US citizens is going to be reigned in, the ND is going to be slashed and federal aid rolls are going to be rolled back to their guru Reagan's numbers. Is he going to bring mfg. back to the states, or do something to close the widening income gap or kick the lobbyists out of Washington? HE'LL NO. There is no damn difference.

    Comically:

Vladimir Putin annual press conference: live - Telegraph

Russia Today has captured this clip of Putin, when talking about Edward Snowden, saying he envies Barack Obama because he can spy and get away with it.
Vlad is jealous of Obama's ability to spy on his own people. Hysterical that Vlad is saying that. Sad too.

As to Merkel's comments to Obama, first of all, she was probably pissed. Could she have compared the NSA to an aspect of Stasi, without taking that comparison to its end? Even a former Stasi agent has stated they would have loved to have had the NSA's capabilities. It blew his mind.
nicely stated. The NSA is on/going down the "slippery slope", to dimunition of the 4th amendment to the point of irrelevance.
Constitutional rights have to be ACTIVELY enforced/protected - otherwise they only exist on paper, and are not really there.

Any American would have the same firsthand knowledge as she does. She wasn't even alive during the original commencements of the Reichstag.

If she survived the death camps, maybe her opinion would hold more merit. It, however, does not.

You dont think growing up in that environment, around the people who lived through it has more merit than yours.
    Like I say, brilliant.

I think you will find it to be true:
