Well, in the Netherlands there are very little people who complain or ask people to "rationale" why they celebrate the holiday season. Why people celebrate the holidays is nobodies business.

Yes, free to believe what they want . Religions have been fighting wars and converting people for centuries because they respected the rights of others to believe whatever they choose. That is why Africans and others have been bombarded with missionaries to "save them from their own godless ways". Godless people have been killing? Since when have godless people been killing people for centuries?

Atheists do not build hospitals in the US, they do bring relief for the poor and they do stand up for their beliefs (there are loads of non-religious aid organizations out there). But what do you get when atheists stand up for their beliefs? Persecution from the morally upstanding christians. They have to live with people disrespecting them, insulting them, threatening them and all kinds of unpleasant things. When Phil Robertson spews his religious intolerance there are loads of internet actions to "like" it if you support him and want to denounce A&E for their intolerance.

An atheist was on Foxnews to stand up for his beliefs, on the facebook page of Foxnews there were these kinds of reactions (in a short time more than 8,000 reactions like these below and much much worse were planted on there):

I say kill them all and let them see for themselves that there is a god.
I love Jesus, and the cross and if you don't, I hope that someone rapes you!
    etc. etc. etc.

Or a high school student who stood up for her beliefs and won her lawsuit to have a prayer rug removed from her public high school got messages like:

“wen the atheist dies, they believe they will become a tree, so we shld chop her down, turn her into paper then PRINT THE BIBLE ON HER.”
“if I wasn’t 18 and wouldn’t go to jail I’d beat the **** out of her idk how she got away with not getting beat up yet”
    “nail her to a cross”
“When I take over the world I’m going to do a holocaust to all the atheists”

Well, how about your parents. My mother instilled loads of values in me.

Strange, even before christianity there were public morals. Now our public morals may have been influenced by christians but laws in my country were designed by all the citizens, religious and non religious.

Sure, the threat of islamic terrorism has made people go absolutely safety insane.

I am not diverting away from the topic, I am saying that terrorism is not just islamic terrorism. Excesses like christians trying to force their morals upon an entire society (like with same sex wedding and abortion). The refusal of the church to aid in the prosecution of all those child raping priests. I am not saying the christians have loads of excesses that bother me but there are some. Most things are just the personal freedom of people and that is fine. If there are religious programs on TV I just switch over to a channel that does not have a religious program. I just don't want to be forced to observe things I do not want to observe. In the past in the Netherlands my mother was forced on her knees (as a child) while walking on the street just because a procession came along (forced by catholics standing and watching).

People were being fined for unchristian clothes (girls dressing in pants were grounds for a fine). Even now there are small christian pockets that want to stop a bike race through the area where they live because they are of the opinion that you only pray on sundays and that relaxing and having fun is unchristian.

Islam, the way they treat non-religious people, the way they treat women, the extremists in their middle etc. etc. etc.

They don't ask for it here either, but you seemed to offer one.

This present century in North Korea and Cuba would be good examples. In the past century any communist country would do it.

Name one hospital that Atheists have built. I can name many with the word Saint in front of them. Since when, in recent history, have Atheists been persecuted by Christians? You may be thinking of Muslims who are punishing both atheists and Christians.
They have to live with people disrespecting them, insulting them, threatening them and all kinds of unpleasant things. When Phil Robertson spews his religious intolerance there are loads of internet actions to "like" it if you support him and want to denounce A&E for their intolerance.
Maybe there should be sort of 'phobia' named after Atheists like the Gays and Muslims have done. Atheistsophobia might do it but it doesn't really roll off the tongue.

An atheist was on Foxnews to stand up for his beliefs, on the facebook page of Foxnews there were these kinds of reactions (in a short time more than 8,000 reactions like these below and much much worse were planted on there):
Was he one of those offended by a cross? Perhaps he was being criticized for being a wimp more than an being an atheist.

Or a high school student who stood up for her beliefs and won her lawsuit to have a prayer rug removed from her public high school got messages like:
There are ignorant people everywhere and these people who claim to be Christians certainly weren't living up to Christian ideals. They're just talking the talk.

Well, how about your parents. My mother instilled loads of values in me.
I'm sure she did and, from what I see, has every right to be proud of her son.

I believe there's a menorah displayed outside the White House. Is there also a Christmas tree?

our government does not endorse anything religious
So why have a ceremony to kosher-ize the White House kitchen?

Why award the Congressional Gold Medal to this extremist?

Why commemorate his birthday as "Education Day, USA", proclaiming him a "great spiritual leader"?

We are benefiting from one thing, and that is the attack on the Twin Towers and Pentagon, and the American struggle in Iraq.

That was back in 2006, seven years ago, and it was an embarrassment to the Jewish Community, who immediately began registering complaints against that decision. It was later rescinded.

You really do keep track of Jewish history, don't you?
