People need to know. I mean they want to ban all religion everywhere even on private property and dig up your grandmother. No doubt for some immoral necrophilic debauchery! And then defile the grave of your poor departed grandmother after defiling her corpse. This bastards must be stopped! They hate America, Freedom, an Duck Dynasty!

No, I enjoy a nice totally non-religious holiday season. I celebrate having 2 days off work with loved ones with good foods and sometimes a few gifts.

Celebrating holidays is perfectly possible without all the religious stuff.

You mean the church that has been a source of injustice, death and hatred throughout the centuries?

Sorry, but I do not need the teachings of someone I do not believe ever existed (as a son of god that is). Also, one live a perfectly decent, loving and fellow man loving life without religion.

They tend to focus on christianity because that is the dominant religion in the US and Europe. It is also the religion that wants to impose it's moral views on a whole host of issue on the population. And it has nothing to do with disinterest but which religion interferes the most with their life and liberty, and in a western modern country that is christianity.

No, it is because of terrorism. In the US that terrorist threat happens to be islam. In the UK not too long ago it was the IRA (as was it is in mainland Europe), in Spain it was the ETA, etc. etc. etc.

Also, the stripping down, tracing of cell phones, being watched with camera's has nothing to do with islamic faith itself but with extremists who happen to be muslim. Sure islam is an influence around the world but it is not trying to run my life or trying to impose their will on my society.

But those holidays are based on "all the religious stuff". What would atheists celebrate without them?

    As compared to whom? Atheists?

There is actually no evidence that atheists have ever opened any charities, built any hospitals, or created an international system to help the poor of every nation. Atheists as a group have accomplished nothing. They are nihilists.
All the developed world was designed on Christian teachings and whether or not you believe in the actual person, or God, is not relevant. Anyone raised in the western world has been effected by Christianity, and the reverberations are still being felt around the world today.

If you are against Christian morality you can invent morals of your own. What would they be?

In the UK it was also Islam, and the same in Australia , Africa and Asia. Are you actually trying to defend Islamic terrorism here as in 'they all do it'?

Islam is a Negative influence around the world, and being an atheist you should sneer at Islam also and all their 'religious stuff'.

Yule (Jul, midwinter fest) was celebrated in pagan times even before the religious holiday of x-mass. Also, if I celebrate a free day with friends because it is a national holiday in the Netherlands than I am going to celebrate my day off the way I want. Easter with me is all about the eggs and the spring fest and x-mas is about a nicely decorated tree, festive lights and good food.

And I celebrate friends and family and getting together with loved ones.

No, each blight on history is done on the world at large. Atheists usually do not go around killing people just because they have a faith. Atheists have been killed and persecuted for not having a faith.

Well, in the US there have been very few people who dared to be atheists. So how can they build hospitals, etc. etc. etc.

Atheists accomplish plenty they just do not need to do this in the name of something, they do it because it is the right thing to do.

Yes, everybody in the West has suffered the consequences from christianity. I think people should have the liberty to be religious or not be religious. In the past the oppressive church/vatican has not allowed this. Religion can do good things, I do not deny things but religion also leads to problems from time to time.

You can be happy you are religious and I am happy to not be religious. Live and let live IMHO.

The law has done that for me. There are transcending morals the world around that atheists believe in just as much as christians do.

No, at the time before 9/11 there was still terrorism and checks on planes etc. because of PLO terror, IRA terror, left wing communist terror etc.

And sure the world have suffered from Islamist terrorists, not from islam itself. And where do you come off with your "are you actually trying to defend islamic terrorism"? I do not defend terrorists, islamic or other ones. I also object to islam and their religious stuff. I have stated from day one here that I dislike "the excesses of religion" not the excesses of christianity. And terrorism and trying to force me to live to islamic ways and morals is clearly one of the excesses of religion IMHO.

Well good luck with that winterfest idea. It's been tried a few times before with that same rationale but never really took off.
No, each blight on history is done on the world at large. Atheists usually do not go around killing people just because they have a faith. Atheists have been killed and persecuted for not having a faith.
Atheists have a faith in that there is no God. That is their belief. And of course who really cares? In the Christian world they are free to believe whatever they choose, within the law. But of course Godless people have been killing people for ceturies but it s Christians who believed in the Golden Rule. Atheists have n such provision.
Well, in the US there have been very few people who dared to be atheists. So how can they build hospitals, etc. etc. etc.
Atheists will not build hospitals, or bring relief for the poor, they will not stand up for their beliefs as well? Christians have died for their beliefs while atheists just quietly moan in the closets, complaining of all the Christians getting up to good.
Atheists accomplish plenty they just do not need to do this in the name of something, they do it because it is the right thing to do.
And where did they learn this "right thing to do"? It's just born in them? That if an atheist is born and raised in East Africa or North Korea they will innately understand 'the right thing to do'?

Yes, everybody in the West has suffered the consequences from christianity. I think people should have the liberty to be religious or not be religious. Yes, everything leads to problems from time to time but the Golden Rule of Christianity is designed to instruct us how to respond to these time to time problems.

You can be happy you are religious and I am happy to not be religious. Live and let live IMHO.
Of course. In fact that is a Christian concept.

And those laws that support public morality, and your own, were designed by Christians.

Actually I've traveled a great deal and there was nothing before 9/11 that can be compared to today.

And sure the world have suffered from Islamist terrorists, not from islam itself.
Not from Islam itself? Apparently you aren't aware of what's happening within Islam today.

By diverting away from the topic into the ETA and IRA you are not responding to the problems at hand. What excesses of Christianity bother you most and how do they compare to the excesses of Islam? What is it about Islamism that bothers you?
