North Korean Leader Kim Jong Un Executes His Uncle

An uncle of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has been executed for trying to overthrow the government, the Korean Central News Agency reported early Friday. "Traitor Jang Song Thaek Executed" blared the headline posted by the state-run news agency about the man who, until recently, had been regarded as the nation's second-most powerful figure. The story said that a special military tribunal had been held Thursday against the "traitor for all ages," who was accused of having attempted to overthrow the state "by all sorts of intrigues and despicable methods." It added, "All the crimes committed by the accused were proved in the course of hearing and were admitted by him." Once his guilt was established, Jang was immediately executed, it said. The KCNA report described Jang as "despicable human scum" and "worse than a dog," and said he had betrayed his party and leader.

I'm not in favor of the death penalty. However if a country is going to have one, it seems more humane to do it in a timely manner, than to drag it out decades like we do.

I'm gonna go ahead and say that the North Korean death penalty system is not one we want to embrace.
I refuse to accept the view that mankind is so tragically bound to the starless midnight of racism and war that the bright daybreak of peace and brotherhood can never become a reality. - MLK

I"m gonna go ahead and agree and add that any death penalty system is third world mentality regardless of where it is.

It's better to leave alive people who viciously end the life of innocent people, they should get to live. They should get Cable TV, 3 square meals, medical care, educational benefits, visit with relatives and write to them. Murderers have rights too!
Climate, changes. It takes a particularly uneducated population to buy into the idea that it's their fault climate is changing and further political solutions can fix it.

I a word, YES. Murder to revenge murder is inane.

When I started this thread I knew that someone would try to deflect the criticism away from North Korea and over to America.....but this ridiculous comment takes the cake!

I'm glad you're sooo soothed by the expediency in which the North Korean leader murdered his own uncle.

He executed his ex girlfriend for making porn as well.

The country is addicted to meth and exporting it. Helps with the hunger pangs I guess.
