Texas teen Ethan Couch gets 10 years' probation for driving drunk, killing 4

That's not liberalism, that's just ****ty parenting.

Exactly which is why I don't think the 10 year probation sentence is wrong for the teen. You don't want to turn him into a violent criminal, but one of the parents should serve some jail time on his behalf for creating the kid and his belief that he is above the law. They can pick which one.

They should cut his balls off, so he cannot pass on his stupid.

WHAT?????? Holy hell....I'll fully agree that the kid needs treatment, but damn.....

I thought Texas was a "hang 'em high" kinda place?

Jail sure isn't going to change anything for anyone in this scenario, but christ on a cracker......

He even STOLE the beer......

And some people wonder why there's anger and frustration towards the rich and privileged.
Appalling, yes. But, since he was a minor, did that play a role in the judge choosing leniency?

Maybe we ought to outlaw children from driving...but, judging by the number of laws this kid broke, I doubt one more would have mattered.
* stole the beer
* minor drinking
* driving with too many minors in the car
* driving without a licensed adult or guardian
* drunk driving

Christ!

Actually sounds like something a Canadian judge would do.

I'm guessing the families of the decedents will be visiting a civil court one day very soon.

5 lawsuits filed to date.

I wonder if this judge has had a similar case before and if so, what was the outcome then?

has he handed down a more harsh punishment for less?

id be interested to know if can hypocrisy be shown concerning this judge's rulings historically?

To families of the victims, Ethan Couch was a killer on the road, a drunken teenage driver who caused a crash that left four people dead.To the defense, the youth is himself a victim -- of "affuenza," according to one psychologist -- the product of wealthy, privileged parents who never set limits for the boy.
To a judge, who sentenced Couch to 10 years' probation but no jail time, he's a defendant in need of treatment.

Interesting. Perhaps our gangsta, ghetto punks can start using "poorfluenza," as a defense, as well. LOL!

Its **** like this why I support mandatory minimums. Had there have been a mandatory minimum for this crime then it wouldn't have mattered if he was rich or poor.

Wouldn't they just change the charges to avoid the mandatory minimum? Justice is for sale and what's the point of being rich if it has no special privileges?

I agree that violent crime and any type of murder/manslaughter should have minimums, but I think that non-violent should not have minimums.

Actually it would make more sense than this since we know that poorfluenza is somewhat real and documented even, yes?

They've been using that defense for decades.

Economic standing good or bad should not have any influence on a judge or jury's decision especially when there is a loss of life.

The "thugs" HAVE been using it to justify horrible crimes for years and thankfully with little success.

Hasn't stopped the courts from throwing their ass in jail though. It seems to only work if you got a lot of money.

It keeps getting better and better. Now, his treatment will be subsidized by the taxpayers.

It is stories like this that make people cheer for Dexter
