Boehner lashes out at conservative groups on budget deal

Republican leaders defended a modest budget deal that would maintain government operations through 2015 amid conservative opposition that could scuttle the legislation in the House.
House Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio, lashed out at conservative advocacy groups that have encouraged GOP lawmakers to oppose a budget framework unveiled last night by Rep. Paul Ryan, R-Wis., and Sen. Patty Murray, D-Wash.
"They're using our members and they're using the American people for their own goals," an animated Boehner told reporters at the Capitol. "This is ridiculous." <snip>

On this I think the conservatives would be wise to fold and let the left wallow in ofailurecare until November 2014. While I agree with the conservatives and would love to see our government shut off for a long while the Republican's can't control public perception by a greedy and arrogant leftist media that will destroy them over a "shut down."

More likely that Boehner is headed for the dustbin after the 2014 election. What surprises me is that the House republicans have allowed him to keep the position for this long.

He walks a tightrope unlike any other between tea party right and moderate RINO's to the left. I think he's done all right at that endeavor.

This "agreement" is being touted as cutting spending by $23B. That's not what it does.

It INCREASES spending by $63B this year while reducing projected spending increases by $23B over 10 years. It's garbage.

Normaly I agree with you, but not here. He's kept the party divided and not managed well at all.

Are you purposely trying to get my thread sent to the conspiracy section?

    It doesn't matter.

The Democrats will find a way to oppose this budget deal.

Reid and his buddies will say one thing...do another...and, somehow, make it all the Republican's fault.

Sounds to me like Boehner is upset that other conservative groups don't do what he tells them, and think what he tells them to think.

That's where we differ. I call the Tea Party types RINO's. Who you call RINO's are republican's that are acting like republican's have acted for years, long before the rightwingnut movement came to be. You cannot just hijack the party and lay claim to the label "republican" as if it were your own, because it is not. In fact, I'd venture to say, in the republican party, you guys are the minority. Anyone from the GOP not agreeing with you, you call a RINO. You guys are the real RINO's. They were here first. Why don't you start your own party and let Republican's be?
