'Atta boy, Ryan. Take a hit to some of the base. It will only increase your popularity later on.

    Very true.

Someone in the party has to be a grownup and quell the tea party rabble.

They are killing the party, time to send this fringe folk home.

Methinks the GOP is headed for an implosion.

I think you're right. I, for one, would like to see the GOP get their **** together and kick these party hijacker's back to Bugtussle. They give the GOP a bad image.

They really do, they are so shrill and asinine. I heard one TP rep on the radio get his butt handed to him the other day about some law they want changed, never mind that it wasn't constitutional (even Scalia was against it), the TP guy had nothing but emotion and angry rhetoric. They are all heat, and no light.

Re: Boehner lashes out at conservative groups on budget deal

Not a fan of current congresses attempting to get savings by pushing something out a decade from now....basically relying on the notion that future congresses will actually stick to the plan as opposed to changing it themselves. I was a critic when the Obama Admin tries using these things to justify their "cost cutting" measures in the past by backloading everything to a point in time when they wouldn't be in office and couldn't guarantee they'd actually happen....and I'm a critic of it here.

I like the idea of trying to get some stability through 2015. I'd be willing to see the Sequester cuts reduced a small portion in order to get that stability. But a seemingly 2/3rds reduction in the sequester amount offset by cuts 10 years down the line is not a reasonable or rational compromise to me. Not when we've seen, time and time again, that you can't trust ANY party when they proclaim plans for that far into the future.

This would be the first time Boehner, with Cantor's approval, has spoken back to the Conservative whackos since Feb. 2011..
There's no way that Boehner and Cantor are going to let Ryan get thrown under the bus..
Boehner will ignore the "Hastert" rule, with a remarkably sane eye on the 2014 elections .

Re: Boehner lashes out at conservative groups on budget deal

Boehner favors spending "cuts" that are actually spending increases but with promises to do better in goofy ten year plans. This is much like the Clinton budget surpluses that increased the national debt. Playing games with numbers is our congress critters' favorite part of the job.
