If folks watch the short clip from which this still was snapped, it would be obvious that there is music and singing blaring in the background, and after Obama mounts the steps he shakes everyone's hand and appears to issue a short greeting close to their ears, because of the noise I presume. It's hardly his fault that everyone on the stage was shorter than he was, so to make his greeting effective he had to bend closer to them. Sheeesh.

I'm sure glad that DP posters don't bother wasting time with petty nothings!

Same old line with you, "I'm no Obama fan BUT" and then you defend him. What was Obama hoping to hear from this little dictator anyway? " Hey Obama I have decided to release all political prisoners and the innocent American I am holding in my filthy prison, remember him? The guy you never ask about"?

What you miss is that Castro will use this pic of Obama being friendly and subservient to show the people of Cuba how powerful and respected he is in the world. Obama gave him the photo op of a life time.

He was very vocal, about 20 feet from a busy sidewalk, about how Fidel needed to step aside or die or whatever so the country could move on. It was different in the smaller towns, though. We spent time in Villa Clara, Trinidad and Cienfuegos and the people there still revere Fidel and the revolution. Especially women, older women, and especially black people who can remember the bad old days. We saw several people put their hands over their hearts when they said, "Che".
There's no dire poverty, no lack of medical care or education, no street prostitution or begging or punk crime. We'd be driving through back-road farm country and go past a farmhouse with a big red cross painted on it- that's a clinic, where a doctor lives. The country is unique in Latin America. I know about the human rights abuses but suspect it's played out of proportion for political reasons.
Did you visit the prisons where anyone who stands up to Castro or communism rot in deplorable conditions? Hope you enjoyed your vacation.

I repeat, why did Obama care what this little thug had to say? You glare at him like I don't give a crap what you are saying you worthless little punk then you drop his hand like a hot potato and move on.

And they got Obama elected twice.

Do you know how people in Saudi Arabia are treated? I don't recall anyone on the right complaining about Bush showing friendliness to a dictator by holding hands with him.

Look, if you want to hold the stance that U.S. leaders should not be friendly to dictators, fine. But for crying out loud at least be consistant about it.

Oh for crying out loud. What do you really think if your man Romney had won and was in that situation? Would he have given him that secret Mormon handshake or would he have looked really mean at him and curled his upper lip?

It was a frickin handshake. It wasn't like he was shaking Castro's penis. You people need to get off the computer and actually go outside to get some fresh air.

Possible, probably good PR back home for Castro. But over all I see this as no big deal. I watched a bunch of interviews being conducted in Miami of the Cuban population there yesterday. It seems the only ones peeved at the hand shake is the old farts who were born in Cuba, the younger ones viewed with a shrug. No big deal to them. It isn't to me either.
This Reform Party member thinks it is high past time that we start electing Americans to congress and the presidency who put America first and their political party further down the line. But for way too long we have been electing Republicans and Democrats who happen to be Americans instead of Americans who happen to be Republicans and Democrats.

Start a thread about that if you want but this one is about Obama. Deflection will not work with me.
