It's not about becoming a dominate world power. It's about a disgusting totalitarian regime growing more powerful. I realize that defending the Castro regime can lead to idiocy, but let's not act all stupid and completely lose context.

Those sanctions have not hurt the US in the slightest. Cuba remains in the 1950s (and that's being generous). It was a one-sided ass whupping of generational proportions. Not a stand-off at all, the Castros have spent the last few decades on their knees.

Sure, whatever. Hope you learned something today!
The whole modern world has divided itself into Conservatives and Progressives. The business of Progressives is to go on making mistakes. The business of Conservatives is to prevent mistakes from being corrected.

There were many other countries involved in the sanctions and Ronald Reagan did not have veto power.

Whats more powerful than ruling the country? Like Castro did for most of his life.

What are you going accuse me of being a Stalinist next?

Ruling with money and real power, obviously. Ruling over a craphole is not the same thing.

Let's not get all emotional. You want to support a totalitarian regime. Great. That's your business but don't pretend it deserves any respect.

Cuban cigars aren't that great. I've had plenty. I've traveled the world, didn't need any diplomatic protection.

Why cannot you face the FACT that the sanctions have kept the regime poor and ineffective, even within Cuba?

Influencing the rule of others? If ruling a country is good, more is better, no?
