Exactly what is an equal right IYV? Is it one I agree with or one with which you agree? As an example, would I have a right to smoke in your world?

Equal protection under the law, as per the fourteenth amendment to the United States constitution. Gender-based classifications can be challenged under the 14th.

The fourteenth was enacted to protect the rights of the former slaves, not gender...

has nothing to do with you and me it has to do with facts, laws, rights, court cases and court precedence

for a better answer simply see the SSCs rulings on this issue and how they refer to equal rights and equality and not allowing discrimination.

It may have been enacted that way but that's not how it works now. It does apply to gender and religious affiliation.

I love the fear that Equal Rights brings out in people that support discrimination, inequality and or bigotry, its hilarious!

the writing is on the wall and they know they are losing and they have lost, its just a matter of time now and they are panicked.

All the failed arguments against equal rights for gays were heard time and time again against slavery, equal rights for woman/minorities and against interracial marriage.

Eventually they all failed because they were illogical, bigoted and or mentally retarded them and that holds true today.

Whether you like it or not, the Constitution has been interpreted for situations that the founding fathers could NEVER have realized in their time. SSM WILL happen, and YOU and others will eventually have to DEAL WITH it. All the whining in the world from the right isn't going to prevent it. Hell, even the GOP now is realizing this and starting to change to the side of SSM. Face it, the anti-SSM has lost and now they are just delaying the inevitable like the spoiled little brats they are.
