[R.I.P.] RIP Nelson Mandela [W:39:56:99]

re: RIP Nelson Mandela [W:28, W:56]

A great man who truly chnaged his country for the better. Maybe South Africa can finally enter a true post-Apartheid political landscape.

It will never happen with Zuma at the helm.

Fought all the way to the end. RIP

re: RIP Nelson Mandela [W:28, W:56]

Been to his old prison cell and got very emotional when I saw how small it was, you could stretch out both your arms and touch the walls. Amazing that he came out and forgave the way he did.

re: RIP Nelson Mandela [W:28, W:56]

RIP. One of the greatest freedom fighters, politicians, civil rights leader, social activist, and revolutionary. RIP Nelson Mandela.

Hey DemSocialist, why are all communist like Lenin, Stalin, Mao, Uncle Ho, Castro, Che, Popot, Mandela all referred to as "freedom fighters" ?

re: RIP Nelson Mandela [W:28, W:56]

Say what you will about the Apartheid regime, they made the trains run on time. South Africa today is a poverty-stricken, crime-ridden shadow of what it was when whites dominated the government. Mandela's legacy is making life an unpleasant place to live for the nation's productive white minority.

The Nazis got the trains running on time too...

Re: Nelson Mandela Dead: Icon of Anti-Apartheid Movement Dies at 95

He was a communist who adopted a socialist face. I never considered him a great leader. If anything, he was a symbol while his wife did all the dirty work. Either way, I hope he had a relationship with God.

I'm not sure if it would be accurate to call him a communist. He was a member of the ANC fighting desperately to see freedom and equality of opportunity for all South Africans at a time when the nations of the world he'd hoped would side with them in their struggle, out of commitment to their stated ideals. Instead, those nations sided with their oppressors and the only nations offering friendship and solidarity to the South African pursuit of democracy oddly were places like Cuba and the Soviet Union. However, once their struggle had successfully secured equality of opportunity and colorblind rights of citizenship for all, he led South Africa to a representative republic and authoring of a constitution very similar to ours. He also granted complete pardons to all regardless of race for crimes committed in efforts to both end and enforce Apartheid.

"He totally should have left Apartheid alone..." Leave it to the righty wackos to denigrate a good man.

Give me a break! SA did nothing but transition from one oppresive system to another oppressive system. Don't get caught up in the joke.

My heart goes out to his family and loved ones.

"Death is something inevitable. When a man has done what he considers to be his duty to his people and his country, he can rest in peace. I believe I have made that effort and that is, therefore, why I will sleep for the eternity.”

Indeed you have. You're finally free Madiba and your legacy will carry on. Rest in Peace.

The genocide campaign against white South Africans has already been underway for several years, but has not yet reached the all-out intensity of the slaughter stages witnessed in Rwanda, Burundi, or Sierra Leone. But that time may be coming soon, and if it does, Nelson Mandela will have helped to launch it. Chilling video footage of Mandela singing an ANC/MK genocide song about killing whites belies the sainted image.

Similarly, in another stunning video, Mandela’s longtime comrade in the ANC and the SACP (and current president of South Africa) Jacob Zuma, sings “Kill the Boer,” meaning kill the white farmer. Even more chilling than the words of the murderous song is the near frenzied behavior it stirs up in many of the assembled mob members. This is clearly incitement to genocide by the top members of South Africa’s ANC ruling regime, the same individuals who incessantly pose as peace advocates. Hopefully he finally finds peace. He's had precious little of it in life.

re: RIP Nelson Mandela [W:28, W:56]

One of the greatest historical figures of the last 100 years. He was by no means perfect, none of us are, but the fight he fought was absolutely necessary. No country on this earth should be allowed to treat any of its citizens as second class, political non-entities. One man, one vote. RIP, Madiba.

They decided that they didn't want Apartheid, but it's unfortunate that they didn't think ahead about who would take the place of those in charge. They discovered too late that there was no one left who knew how to do anything, which of course led to more oppression and chaos. Dreams of grandeur of being the "boss" turned out to be short-sighted on their part.

You will be missed.

re: RIP Nelson Mandela [W:28, W:56]

I'm very sorry to learn this sad news. He was one of the great historical figures of the 20th century. In helping bringing an end to Apartheid, his contributions to South Africa's people were immeasurable as all succeeding generations are beneficiaries of his efforts. May he rest in peace.

I'm just gonna c/p my FB status on the man:

Nelson Mandela was a freedom fighter, not just for black South Africans, but for South Africa as a whole. He and the countless others who worked with him helped to save the soul of a nation and replace with equality where there once had been discrimination, helped to replace with love where there once had been hate. He is an inspiration to people not just in South Africa, but to those who fight for justice and freedom today and who will continue the fight tomorrow. While he may be gone, he still lives on in the hearts of those who wish for a peaceful and just world, where we can learn to live together, even with our differences, but still respect and understand one another.

Rest In Peace Mandela, you have earned it.

"No one is born hating another person because of the colour of his skin, or his background, or his religion. People must learn to hate, and if they can learn to hate, they can be taught to love, for love comes more naturally to the human heart than its opposite."

The world is a smaller place without him.

Re: Nelson Mandela Dead: Icon of Anti-Apartheid Movement Dies at 95

Mandela was commander in chief of the ANC, a violent terrorist organization. How in God's name can he be compared to Gandhi? The PR campaign for him is better than Che's and soon people will be wearing Mandela T shirts too.

Re: Nelson Mandela Dead: Icon of Anti-Apartheid Movement Dies at 95

I'm assuming this is a day when some conservatives discover his Marxism, regardless of his actual political decisions.
