The absurdity of beliefs doesn't lessen their entitlement. Of course if you act on beliefs that would do others harm than that changes everything.

Yes, it is a belief. Just as saying there is no truth in the Bible is also a belief. We believe there is a God, we believe there is no God, we believe that a politician will lead us to a better place or we believe that all politicians are crooks. The difference of beliefs, rather than facts, is what usually makes these debate boards function. We tend to defend our beliefs as much or more so than the facts.

they found sodom and its sister city,it was destroyed by fire and brimstone, however scientifically it appears to be from a volcano, the garden of eden was found as well.numerous other things were found written in the bible and other texts from other ancient religions of the region.

that doesnt make them fiction, but rather exaggerated truth.it is a belief system, science cant prove all of it,but much was true, and the rest id belief.the difference between fiction and beleif is one is not proven, but believed, while the other is fabricated for the intention of being false, mostly for entertainment purposes.
Sorry, but they THINK they may had found the "garden of eden". There is no proof it actually is. Same for the cities.

Yes, the bible has exaggerations and some details based on history, but that doesn't make it any less a fictional book. I'm sorry but if anyone takes the bible literally as fact word for word, they are crazy IMO and no different then those that believe Zeus makes lightning.

Yes, that's true. Perhaps those in countries where other religions are forbidden might also have their own beliefs, but are only forbidden to share them.

Most Christians don't take the Bible as literal fact but instead look to it for guidance and inspiration. This is also one of the great changes that has occurred within the Christian religion, and of course we can hope that something similar happens with Islam.

And with any luck these religions will continue their evolution into non existence.

Ah but we hear all the time when Christians quote scripture as FACT of what God says. So, if the bible is full of exaggerations, so could mans interpretation of what God (should the Christian God exists) actually said. This is what I find so fascinating to me. Christians (for the most part) on one hand, thanks to science, finally believe that the book is not 100% fact, yet declare the parts they want as fact and discard the rest.

Why would you want that? Doesn't man often need inspiration from an outside source?

That's right. Because many will follow those parts of the teachings which inspire them, which is generally to be found in the NT.

Others can believe in God without following any religion. Or enjoy parts of a Holy Book while ignoring others. You seems to be looking at a 'one size fits all' situation but it is seldom there.
