That's usually the case with non-believers as well, and it applies to politics, sports, home towns and a lot of other issues.

This from someone who probably reveres Zinn.

The Bible is all made up of stories from history. Whether you find the stories believable or not is immaterial, there are plenty of people who do.

No, not technically correct. The book is not meant to be fiction. It is an insult to the author to label his non-fiction work fiction. You are claiming he's lying. The people who wrote those sacred texts believed they were recording the truth.

Oh no, a guy putting every animal onto a boat and riding out a storm for forty days is totally believable.

None of which changes the fact that they have no good reason to believe what they believe. People who believe that reptilian aliens are running the government have all the proof they need too. They're still crazy.
There is nothing demonstrably true that religion can provide the world that cannot be achieved more rationally through entirely secular means.

Oh, the abortion subforum gets pretty crazy. There's a reason why most people avoid it like anthrax. I'd say that of all the subforums on DP the abortion one is the angriest.

One reason I never step foot in there. The other is that most people in that forum are not open to reason, they are fanatical to the same degree as fundamentalist theists. It's not worthwhile to talk to any of them.

Well that is a very convenient worldview. ANy one who doubts what you want to believe is the one at fault. Unfortunately for you, in the real world, there is a word for things which do not match up with history and/or science. It is "fiction".
