And we spend more per child on education then any other country. in 2011 we spent $7,743 per child two times as much as the Asian countries do

so I don't want to hear any solutions that is about wasting more money on a broken system

First and for most we need to get rid of the teachers unions they are more concerned about stuffing their pockets then educating our children

second we need to pay teachers based on performance and not on tenure like they do every where else in the private sector

third we need to implement school choice let the schools compete for students and when there is competition there is improvement

Somebody make the case to me why it even matters where we're ranked?

Some people are going to sweep floors, cook burgers, and so forth. Not everyone is going to be a rocket scientist.

I'm actually quite happy knowing the best universities in the world are in the United States.

    So your point is?

Since America is the richest country in the world, our education system isn't "failing."

We're certainly doing better than South Korea.

While I dont esp care for or agree with the bold, if that is someone's choice, fine. But then I dont want to hear about them complaining they are entitled to being paid more than those jobs are worth. As in not necessarily a 'living wage' or raising the minimum wage to accommodate them.

And while I got stuck contributing to their education which it appears they didnt make much use of...I dont want to have pay for their public assistance after either.

You make it sound like it's a bad thing that someone has to sweep the floors. Would you rather walk around in filth? The floors need to be swept, and someone physically has to do it. Whoever that person is deserves a dignified living wage and doesn't deserve your vitriol just because you look down on what they do for a living.

Liberals can't explain it, and unions oppose any competition that might improve things. Gotta love CA's special interest groups.
The Unions who run education in California love to attempt to suggest that spending per student is among the lowest in the US, yet they fail to add in the $20 billion they just spent over the last few years on school construction, or the additional $80 billion it will cost over the years to pay off the bonds.

Throw in the $1 billion the LA Unified is planning to spend to hand out iPads to every student, and the massive drop out rate should be appauling to anyone with a brain.

At the end of the day, it's what happens at home, and by the parents, that counts. No amount of theft from the Unions hidden inside some feel good agenda will change that.

Why that's exactly what I suggested. You get the "cutting to the chase" award.

Actually, I was suggesting that eliminating parents because Progressive educators look at them as nothing more than penises and vagina's designed to produce a product they get to manipulate for financial gain for 18 years or so, is disgusting.

I'm sure that's what you really meant to post.
