Not too late, at least not where I live.

Toronto doesn't have people clattering away on smart phones all the time? That's not how I remember it.

Sure we do, but not in restaurants when people are trying to enjoy a meal - at least not in the restaurants I frequent. Seems like a pretty shallow life to me if you can't last a couple of hours without some gadget in your hands or clamped on your head.

I don't know anyone in my social circle who could last without access to the internet for more than a few hours haha, I check my phone compulsively for news and updates. Like I said I think this is a generational gap and I don't think anything I could say would bridge it.

I don't see it as generational as much as emotional. It's much easier to deal with an inanimate object rather than a face to face or voice to voice, but it seems that it would lead to shallow relationships...
I don't often change my signature, but this was just too over the top to let anyone forget with what this country is up against...

Good on the business owner for protecting his customers.
'Tis his business. Whether it's good or bad for his business will be seen.
If you claim sexual harassment to be wrong, yet you defend anyone on your side for any reason,
then you are a hypocrite and everything you say on the matter is just babble.

This whole story just seems weird.

Also, it doesn't matter if people like it or not, we are headed in this direction.
If you walk around with your phone videotaping people they'll ask you to leave too.

It isn't something people think of because they are so inured to it. This is dramatically new and so it inspires fear and caution. That will change as time wears on until it is ubiquitous.
Stop videotaping my kids you creeper.

I they could potentially lose more customers. If I felt I was being videotaped, I would feel ill at ease.

I would not single out "young people". Douchey parents and grandparents seem to think their little gadgets are the cats meow and think they have right of way to catch on video every last little dribble or snot. Note to video-obsessed parents and grandparents - instead of taping precious - put the camera down and wipe the snot before they smear it everywhere.
