U.S. sends submarine-hunting jets to E. China Sea post

U.S. military authorities dispatched the first of six top-tech submarine-hunting jets to its Okinawa post near the disputed East China Sea, a move sure to ratchet up tensions among China and the United States.

The Navy plans to send in a total of six P-8 Poseidon patrol craft, aimed at bolstering the United States’ ability to root out submarines in the area, Reuters reported. The deployment was planned months ago, but nonetheless comes as China declared an air defense zone above islands that it’s fighting Japan to control.

President Obama, in response to the declaration, flew in two B-52 bombers into the so-called off-limits air space — a strong message that the United States would not abide China’s terms of designation. But Mr. Obama also said that U.S. businesses would obey China’s air zone declaration, and refrain from flying private craft into the zone without Beijing’s permission.

Anyone think Obama actually has a hand in this or is he leaving it up to the military?

Like most Presidents, I'm sure he's considering the input of the National Security Council including Vice-President Biden, Secretaries Kerry and Hagel, National Security Adviser Rice, CIA Director Brennan and top military leaders.

Of course, point man in the region is Four Star General Vincent K. Brooks, Commanding General U.S. Army, Pacific who I'm sure is the guy coming up with all the mission strategy, etc. and has studied, probably knows the Chinese military capabilities better than anyone and has every detail figured out even in a worse case scenario and how we'll respond. At one point the Navy was basically trying to find a reason not to scrap ASW programs, so my guess is they are trying to breath new life into the budget for such equipment and personnel.

Imagine what we might do if our president were not a wussy appeaser.

or, maybe that characterization is inaccurate, could that be?

Well I sure hope the P-8's can fill the shoes of the P-3 Orion's. Has a P-8 ever been able to locate a submerged sub ?

Not to many months ago the current administration sent to sea a Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) "Little Crappy Ship" on it's first combat cruise and it's only gun didn't even work. Then the LCS broke down half way to it's AOR.

The Air Force said that the two B-52's that flew over the disputed islands was a routine training mission that was planned well before China declared air space as restricted. Who do you believe ? The Air Force who answerers to Obama or the Obama White House ?

Obama absolutely made the final decision to approve this. Nothing this important got decided at a lower level.

Just not all second rate but yes, unqualified.

The entire Obama administration is second rate.

If Obama were have surrounded himself with competent people, he might have turned out being a half ass President.

As for General Vincent K. Brooks, I would have to look into if he's a "yes man" that Obama put in command. You are aware that Obama has been purging the U.S. military officers corps of high ranking officers (197 since last month) who were known as highly competent warriors and replacing them with PC yes men.
