    Or baiter.

Your point is well made. I was looking forward to visiting the Guggenheim in Balboa but as it was late in the afternoon and didn't know if we would have enough time, The women taking tickets said it would only take about 45 minutes, which surprised me, but that was about it. Nothing artistic at all, except in the fashion you described earlier, but the pretentiousness was damned funny! It's an ugly structure as well.

There was a large cat statue outside covered in flowers and that was far and away the best part.

LOL that's pretty funny. I don't mean to say all artwork done today is bad, just a lot of it. I really like Chicago's art museum a lot.... one thing I miss the most about living there. Their Edward Hopper exhibit is phenomenal, and I believe he did most of his work in the 1940's, which is relatively recent.

I'm also a big fan of the architecture done between the 20's and 40's... before they really learned about rebar I suppose. Chicago is an interesting city, beautiful architecture for example around Grant Park and the museums, and then that horrendous monstrosity formerly known as Sears Tower. Where's your terrorist with a 747 when you need one? At 2am when noone's in it, of course.

I'm by no means a fan of the Catholic Church. It's a corrupt group of old men presiding over who gets rich from the poor. However, I'm definitely an ideological fan of this pope. Though I doubt he'll restore the church in his lifetime, I do find him to be far more open to change than his predecessors. He's tackling internal issues. He's attacking a society that sees wealth as a goal and not a means. I definitely like him.
Words are nice, actions are better. Does this mean he will move out of the Vatican, sell off the billions of dollars worth of assets to help the poor. Or his advice only for others.

I like Hopper too and if you've ever seen the introduction to the movies on TCM I would say they are Hopper inspired. And cafe scene seems that way.

Do you believe that if the Vatican sold off all their assets poverty would disappear?

If the rich gave the poor all of their money, how long do you think it would take for them to get it all back again?

Was it not you who suggested the Vatican should sell its assets to help the poor?

    Which part was unclear?

Nighthawks is a spellbinding piece of artwork, when you see it in person it sucks your attention right in. Really magnificent. The way he's able to illustrate light is just masterful, it looks like the painting is actually glowing. I don't know if the piece has any deeper meaning I'm supposed to take from it, but that was the one that, when I saw it, I just had that "now that is cool" reaction to.
