Next thing ya know they will be declaring any nation that they disagree with is a hot bed of Muslim terrorism, atheism, and Chinese haters! Then China, Asia, and Russia will have to be blockaded, bombed, and their lands poisoned for thousands of years. And that is going to cost the Umurukun taxpayer a lot of money! GOBLESS UMURUKA!!
You, my friend, have severe problems inside your mind. You have been ignored.

??? I'm a little confused by this response. So concern over the volatility of this situation translates to you into US military action against China? A little over dramatic I would say.

I know it's a little more complicated than that considering oil deposits have been found but at the end of the day I'm a little biased given that my wife is Japanese (not that she cares about any of this anyway) but overall it appears Japans claims to the islands are far stronger than that of Chinas (or Taiwans for that matter).
I don't think either of them have a stronger claim than the others. All three have a legitimate claim to the islands under the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Seas so the dispute should go into arbitration under Annex VII. Not that it will ever happen.

The Japanese clearly have a stronger claim within recent history IMO. But you're totally right that this is something that should be arbitrated with a third party, and not essentially absorbed by China's aggressive claims. Nor should the Japanese expect to land nationalist activists on these islands before this dispute is arbitrated in that fashion.
