How many have been turned down--86 since Washington to GWB!!

Obama and Reid both railed against the Nuclear option when the democrats were in the minority now that they are in the majority they are for the nuclear option. They are such hypocrites.

So did Republicans. Only the democrats actually followed through.

the good news is... Harry Reid just stepped up the partisanship another notch
Repubs have threatened for years to do far worse than Reid did today and Sen. Grassley confirmed that today with his statement that RepubLies would do this with SCOTUS nominees, something reid has said he wouldn't do
even thought the American people want less partisanship,Harry wants more.

as usual, today's GOP is on the wrong side of History on their unprecedented use of the filibuster only matcdhed by their unprecedented lying about not using the filibuster when agreements are made in January--McCarthy-style

Your scenario calls for half and half.. not 59% 39%... and that is considered a tie in the senate today.
If the founders believed that simple majority rule wasn't good enough for making decisions they would have provided a more complex solution to a senatorial tie than the Vice President's tie breaking vote.
The filibuster is an accidental loophole of the senate rules that has been taken advantage of by both sides since 1806. It was never intentional and has no foundation in the constitution.
If third solutions can be found in compromise or tangential thinking, then either side can still make them without the need for a three fifths stalemate.

So what if it's 60/40? Majority rule leads to tyranny for the simple reason that they can then vote the minority out of power. While certain administrative stuff is fine to decide via simple majority it's not appropriate for more significant decisions which would ABSOLUTELY include executive appointments.

And when you lose both houses and the presidency soon, I don't want to hear a thing from you. Paybacks are hell.

I'm sure you won't hear a peep out of them.

Mark my words this will come back to bite the democrats in the ass.........Now if the Republicans get in the majority it will only take 51 votes to repeal Obama Care

Repubs are gathering their talking points from Limbaugh and Beck right now and will be out with them tomorrow..
So did Republicans. Only the democrats actually followed through.
Now Obama is a dictator, a self-fulfilling prophecy made by RepubLies in 2008.
Cancerous Cantor plotted this Coup against Obama election night 2008 .

Since youre mostly just posting rhetoric, Im going to ignore you from now on so as not to distract from constructive debate.

With Christie as President, Dems will not have to worry about worthless SCOTUS justices like C. Thomas being nominated..
Have you ever heard of one quote from Thomas on SCOTUS hearingts >>

Kagen. She currently sits on the high court and all those folks you mentioned voted to allow it.
FACT: Numerous conservatives have praised Kagan.

NRO's Daniel Foster praised Kagan as being "well-respected by just about everybody on both sides." In an April 9 post on The Corner, National Review Onlinenews editor Daniel Foster wrote that Kagan "is well-respected by just about everybody on both sides."
Bush assistant AG: "Kagan combines principle, pragmatism, and good judgment better than anyone I have ever met." In a letter supporting Kagan's nomination for solicitor general, Jack Goldsmith -- former assistant attorney general for the Office of Legal Counsel during the Bush administration -- stated: "It might seem over the top to say that Kagan combines principle, pragmatism, and good judgment better than anyone I have ever met. But it is true."
Starr, Olson and bipartisan group of former solicitors general: Kagan held in "high regard" by "persons of a wide variety of political and social views." In a letter sent by people who "serv[ed] as Solicitor General over the past quarter century, from 1985 to 2009," Charles Fried, Kenneth Starr, Drew Days, Walter Dellinger, Seth Waxman, Theodore Olson, Paul Clement, and Gregory Garre stated:The well-deserved stature that Kagan has achieved in the legal profession will enhance her tenure as Solicitor General, ensuring that, within the executive branch, her voice and the conclusions reached by the Solicitor General will be accorded the highest respect. The extraordinary skill she has demonstrated in bringing to Harvard an impressive array of new scholars, her ability to manage and lead a complex institution, and the high regard in which she is held by persons of a wide variety of political and social views, suggest that she will excel at the important job of melding the views of various agencies and departments into coherent positions that advance the best interests of the national government.

Former Bush lawyer Berenson lauded Kagan's "fair-minded consideration of competing views." From a letter by former Bush administration associate White House counsel Bradford Berenson supporting Kagan's solicitor general nomination:
Her legal acumen is more than equal to the task she faces, as reflected in her scholarship. The spirit of toleration and fair-minded consideration of competing views she brought to the Deanship reflect the sort of temperament and judgment that will inspire confidence in the Justices of the Supreme Court as well as the private parties with whom she will need to interact as SG. The same institutional loyalty that has enabled her to put Harvard Law School's interests ahead of her own will undoubtedly cause her to do likewise in service of the United States.

Steve Hayes: Kagan is "persuasive to people who might not otherwise be predisposed to agree with her." On the May 7 edition of Fox News' Special Report with Bret Baier, Fox News contributor Steve Hayes stated that Kagan is "someone who can make convincing and compelling arguments and marshal her arguments in a way that is persuasive to people who might not otherwise be predisposed to agree with her. And I think you're seeing that to a certain extent in the sort of half-embrace that she's getting from some conservatives, particularly conservative academics."
Outside of Rush's opinion Elena Kaegan is respected and held in the highest regard by conservatives and progressives alike,
She is, what can only be described as, a centrist.

1) Christie is a done-deal..
2) even Gov. Walker supports him..
And if that is a Republican?
3) you can't win a senate vote with the current number of RepubLie senators

especially since it shuts down the sabotage of PPACA for another day..
as did the coke-GOP-congressman from florida--
now you guys are bringing out your heavy hitters Limpy and Glenda for talking pts .
it has to be good news with so many people cheering him on...

That is just your opinion..........Conservatives do not like Christie....I am not even sure he will win the nomination....I am not sure I would vote for him.

I'm going to break ranks here and say this isn't a good idea. If it wasn't a good idea when Republicans proposed it, it definitely isn't a good idea now that Democrats have put it to work.

They actually have only turned down 2% of the candidates.

In total they have confirmed 1600 nominees.

Democrats have carped about the number of President Obama's nominees for whom Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid has had to invoke cloture, a vote on ending debate that requires 60 votes. This summer, when Democrats were promising they were mulling the "nuclear option" only for executive-branch nominees and not judges -- guess what, they changed their minds! -- they spoke breathlessly about "an increase of more than 1,000% in the rate of forced cloture votes on [executive-branch] nominations." Which sounds like something to chew on, until you consider a) they were talking about only 16 nominees (later updated to 27) out of almost 1,600, and b) 25 of the 27 were confirmed and took office.

try "the green papers" to more fully understand the nomination process..
No TEAt-member has the brains to make it through, as Romney showed..
