Pa. pastor suspended for performing gay wedding says he’ll be ‘outspoken advocate’ fo

Re: Pa. pastor suspended for performing gay wedding says he’ll be ‘outspoken advocate

You disobey your employer, you get fired. Happens.

If he stands up for his beliefs and principles, good for him. He still should be fired.

It will probably bring him closer to his son. He still should be fired.

Maybe it'll help the church renegotiate its position on the subject. He still should be fired.

Re: Pa. pastor suspended for performing gay wedding says he’ll be ‘outspoken advocate

Sure, and I could call myself the junior Senator from New York if I wanted. But I wouldn't be without an election, and he won't be a Methodist minister without credentials.

Calling yourself a senator isn't covered under the 1st Amendment. I'll acquiese that MAYBE he wouldn't be able to call himself a Mathodist, but the Methodists can't stop him from being an ordained preacher.

They can take the ordination they gave him, strip from him the ability to speak in their name, etc. He can call himself what he pleases, he would no longer be a Methodist minister.

He has done his fellow activists no favors with his actions - if anything, he has reflected badly on them.

He is ordained by God. Man can't take that away from him.

Oh I disagree. He's standing up for a legitimate concern that needs addressed, and he did it peacefully and purposefully.

People who do no favors are the ones who fire-bomb abortion clinics and attack people who wear fur and eat steak.

I disagree, he was ordained by the church and can be stripped of it any time the church in question desires.

sorry this is false

just like the Mormons that dont think the change about blacks should have been allowed and the Mormons that do think it is allowed . . . .

both still Mormons even though they say the others really arent

what will factually make him no longer a Methodist minister.

and again are you claiming the Methodist in my area that are fine with this preachers conduct arent real or dont have credentials?

yes ONE church, not all

what facts support this or just your opinion has an opponent of his?

He declared the rest of the church guilty of hate speech (including those who might be sympathetic to him), and tried to turn his trial into a self-aggrandizing spectacle. Yeah, he lost his side ground in this.

Re: Pa. pastor suspended for performing gay wedding says he’ll be ‘outspoken advocate

It is the head(s) of the whatever church that decide the rules of ordination. Mormons answer to the Living Prophet. If he says you're not a mormon, you're not a mormon, in any sect of the religion. If the Methodist council decides to strip this fellow of his collar, he's no longer a methodist pastor/priest and can no longer marry folks in their name. He'll have to get another church to ordain him or go to the internet.

Re: Pa. pastor suspended for performing gay wedding says he’ll be ‘outspoken advocate

1.) He declared the rest of the church guilty of hate speech (including those who might be sympathetic to him)
2.) and tried to turn his trial into a self-aggrandizing spectacle.

3.) Yeah, he lost his side ground in this.

1.)really all of the church? hmmmm
how do you know that again?
and what speech was he referring to?

2.) he tried too? seems nothing was made of it before they put him on trail

you like just makign stuff up dont you, cant you show us what speech he meant

3.) again only in the opinion of one of his opponents, you

not to mention did you just judge his whole side based on the actions of him????

seems you dont like him cause you are like him, stop grandstanding and use love not hate

I think his opinions were more of the church as a whole and not clergy or parishoners.

Sometimes you need to invoke change with some ruffled feathers. We're talking MLK, not Malcolm X.

facts remains both are still Mormons and this guy can still be a Methodist preacher else ware

Re: Pa. pastor suspended for performing gay wedding says he’ll be ‘outspoken advocate

It's not up to the parishioners to decide but the religion's hierarchy. Indicting the church as a whole will most likely get you stripped of your ordination in that religion.

Re: Pa. pastor suspended for performing gay wedding says he’ll be ‘outspoken advocate

so funny

guy did a good thing
church did what they are allowed to do and its support by everyone so far and some are still butt hurt over it lol

No, again, if the Living Prophet decides you are not mormon, you are not mormon anywhere. You can call yourself whatever you want, heck he could call himself a purple duck, insist he is, but he won't be in reality. And no, he can't be a methodist preacher elsewhere if he is stripped of his ordination in the relgion. He's free to call himself a preacher and preach but the methodist label will be unavailable to him.

Saying "butt hurt" in a gay thread somehow seems inappropriate. ;)

Once again you're relying on your opinions to be facts, they are not. The mormons who are accepted by the Living Prophet as mormons, regardless of their sect, are mormons. The ones who aren't, aren't - period. That's how it works in the world of mormons. Like the Pope. If the Pope says you're catholic, you're catholic, if he says you aren't, you aren't. That's fact.

And really? Where did I say it was up to me, it's up to the General Conference Council of Bishops, that's who decides for the methodists. They don't have a central authority figure but rather a group that makes those determinations. That's the fact.

no its like hilarious while "more better" is like extra medium.
