North Texas Drivers Stopped at Roadblock Asked for Saliva, Blood

North Texas Drivers Stopped at Roadblock Asked for Saliva, Blood | NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth

Some drivers along a busy Fort Worth street on Friday were stopped at a police roadblock and directed into a parking lot, where they were asked by federal contractors for samples of their breath, saliva and even blood. It was part of a government research study aimed at determining the number of drunken or drug-impaired drivers.
NBC DFW confirmed that the survey was done by a government contractor, the Pacific Institute for Research and Evaluation, which is based in Calverton, Md.
A company spokeswoman referred questions to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. An agency spokeswoman sent an email confirming the government is conducting the surveys in 30 cities across the country in an effort to reduce impaired-driving accidents.
What are the REALLY looking for? This seems so randomly intrusive.

Government is getting bigger and bigger and bigger and bigger......

I agree with you that they were probably looking for something more than just the "data". Now, if it was simply a DUI check, with the potential to arrest those found to be impaired; THAT I would have been fine with.

As a native Texan I can only say that the weirdness, extremism, radicalism that's been escalating for the past few decades...are the result of a systematic abduction by aliens for the purpose of placing them in a trance so that they can't see just how ****ed up our local and state governments has become...and how they impact our state in so many negative ways.

It's really wild how a thousand or so people in the Kingdom of Washington has decided that they don't need to represent the TRUE views of the citizens, but rather have come to believe that they...and they alone knows whats best for the 300 million serfs.

In principle, I agree with this, but at the same time, there comes a point when government's usurpation of power surpasses our ability to do anything about it. Sure, we can blame ourselves for letting it get to that point; but past that point where there's little that can be done (at least reasonably), continued increases in government's size are beyond anyone's control.

It's a minor distinction, I admit; but now that we're past that point, we need to realize the incredibly dangerous situation in which we've allowed ourselves to get and think not in terms of what we could have done (yet didn't) to avoid getting here, but in terms of what now needs to be done to get back to where we should be - because the two mindsets (and solutions) are different.

Wow, that is completely inappropriate. I would be pissed on so many levels. It seems like their uniforms made them appear to be cops. And there didnt seem to be a way to avoid pulling over. I'd be mad at having my trip interrupted, period. And then offering cash for bodily fluids????

And even if it had been real cops, I would have said, "I do not consent" and seen where that took me (maybe to jail, who knows?).

The solution is simple. People need to vote our leaders by 100% voter turn out. Not 30%.

No argument there at all. We are, in vast measure a center-right nation; we NEED to get those Americans involved again and vote in their best interests.

Our government seems to do nothing, not one damn thing, that we want them to. They don't spend our money appropriately, run our military correctly, protect our borders and national security, support the rule of law, work with its citizenry in mind......anything.

And I'm growing increasingly distrustful about the integrity of our election process.
