Poll: Obamacare support, Obama approval sink to new lows

"Obama approval sinks to new low". I have a feeling we will be seeing that headline again.

President Obama's job approval rating has plunged to the lowest of his presidency, according to a new CBS News poll released Wednesday, and Americans' approval of the Affordable Care Act has dropped it's lowest since CBS News started polling on the law.Thirty-seven percent now approve of the job Mr. Obama is doing as president, down from 46 percent in October -- a nine point drop in just a month. Mr. Obama's disapproval rating is 57 percent -- the highest level for this president in CBS News Polls.

A rocky beginning to the opening of the new health insurance exchanges has also taken its toll on how Americans perceive the Affordable Care Act. Now, approval of the law has dropped to 31 percent - the lowest number yet recorded in CBS News Polls, and a drop of 12 points since last month. Sixty-one percent disapprove (a high for this poll), including 46 percent who say they disapprove strongly.

Republicans are nearly unanimous in their disapproval of the law, and now more than two-thirds of independents agree. Almost six in ten Democrats continue to support the law, but their support has dropped 16 points from last month - from 74 percent in October to 58 percent today. Support has dropped 11 points among independents and five points among Republicans....

The president's overall job approval rating has declined among many demographic groups since last month, including independents (a 12-point drop), men (down 9 points), and women (a 10-point drop). More women now disapprove than approve of the job Mr. Obama is doing as president....

President Obama has also taken a hit on views of his honesty. During the presidential campaign last fall, 60 percent of voters said Mr. Obama was honest and trustworthy, but just 49 percent of Americans think that today....

That's funny. German public media were informing the population yesterday and today that Obama and his care were gaining rapidly in the approval ratings.
Of course they need to make their social system look good to keep discontent at bay. Actually nobody here can understand how anyone could believe ACA were bad. The public media suggest only fanatics on the far right are against it.

I have a feeling that Obama will look back at 37% and wish it were that high again. The disastrous elements of his "signature" achievement will continue to adversely affect the lives of millions of Americans.

I dont think he really cares that his numbers are low. He won't be running for re-election and no matter what he does the general public is not going to vote a Republican into office.

Americans are finally seeing Obama's incompetence because of the deadline associated with the web site. His incompetence with the economy has been less obvious because there was no major event which pointed to failure. We are just living through a sluggish economy, high unemployment and runaway social spending.

He cares very much that his poll numbers are low. His whole presidency has been based on polls.

He also knows that when Dems get creamed in the elections next year because of his bungling, he will be a lame duck for the last two years of his presidency. His legacy will be that his only real accomplishment was a total disaster.

I dont think he does. He wont come out and blatantly say it in public, but his actions show he doesn't care. He is going to do what he thinks is best for the country regardless of how American perceive him for doing it.

As for Dems getting creamed, I think you are pretty far off base. Dont confuse people's frustrations with Democrats for love for Republicans. In the eyes of many Americans both parties are garbage, but Democrats are the lesser of two evils.

Astonishing. Do they even carry the stories of the millions tossed off their health insurance, sticker shock, reduced access to healthcare providers, the mass failures of implementation, etc.?

are a majority of Americans now far right fanatics?

If you were to believe the media here, there were a few slight hitches that the right made overmuch about.

    The Public gets Buyers Remorse

...The president’s job approval rating has fallen to 42 percent in a new ABC News/Washington Post poll, down 13 percentage points this year and 6 points in the past month to match the lowest of his presidency. Fifty-five percent disapprove, a record. And 70 percent say the country’s headed seriously off on the wrong track – up 13 points since May to the most in two years....

The poll produces evidence that the ACA could spell trouble for Democrats in the 2014 midterm elections. Americans by a 16-point margin, 37-21 percent, are more likely to oppose than to support a candidate for Congress who favors Obamacare. That’s opened up from an even score in July 2012. (Using an intensity rating – those who are “much” more or less likely to support a candidate who backs the ACA – it’s still 15 points negative, vs. 2 points last year.)

The health care law looks most politically hazardous in the states that backed Mitt Romney in 2012; there Americans by 3-1, 46-15 percent, say they’re more inclined to oppose than to support a candidate who favors the law. But the ACA’s no help even in the blue states that backed Obama; while the division is far closer, 31 percent in those states are inclined to oppose an ACA-linked candidate, vs. 25 percent who’d be more apt to support one....

adding insult to injury, registered voters divide numerically in Mitt Romney’s favor, 49-45 percent, if they had a mulligan for the 2012 presidential election....
