A Russian GPS Using U.S. Soil Stirs Spy Fears

Russia has satellites. Hope this helps.

There is a reason that the GPS system has a built in error. It could be much more accurate but a missile 20 feet off a direct impact can make all the difference in the world. Hope this helps.

Thanks for showing us how little you care about the United States - I wouldn't expect any less from an anarchist libertarian from CA.

Most liberals don't care that you make sweeping statements with nothing but smoke to back them up. Most liberals ignore such things. It's the people who want desperately to believe that liberals are all evil and conservatives are all good that take such statements with an "Aha! Just as I always thought!"

The circular error probability (CEP) of an SS-19 is between 220-900 meters and is MIRV enabled. If a volley is launched at Washington it isn't going to matter much if it misses its 'target'.

That intentional error was disabled ages ago.

Russia knows exactly where the White House is and they can hit it just fine already.

We're assuming conventional weaponry, obviously. Nuclear war makes the whole thing moot.

I'm not sure what scenario would have to emerge for Russia to launch ballistic missiles with conventional warheads at high profile targets in the continental United States. For an enormous amount of reasons this is highly improbable.

I was once told that in the event of a foreign invasion, the first thing we should do is remove all street signs.

I guess that advice is no longer applicable.

That was because of those stickers on the back of the street signs telling the UN troops where to go...or something.

I heard that during the War of 1812, they removed street signs and the British wandered around Washington aimlessly. But they couldn't have been too lost. They found the Whitehouse.

I wasn't there. It could be just some BS somebody told me. I dunno.

I remember they just moved the signs around. Every once in a while they still find a sign pointing the wrong direction.

In 1812 you could see from one end of Washington to the other. It was a tiny enclave of government buildings and associated housing surrounded by rolling farmland. A sketch of what the city looked like in 1800 (http://ghostsofdc.org/wp-content/uploads/2012/03/washingotn-1800.jpg). I doubt they could have even managed to get lost!

Tru dat! But, I do believe we have a congress now, (as well as congress's of past,) that couldn't find their own ass with both hands. LOL!

I don't care if they're benign, why the hell are we allowing them to build them here in the frist place. What do we care if their version of GPS works or not? Insanely stupid.

They probably bought the site and equiptemnt on the open market.

I'd think our government would disallow such a sale, or at the very least surround it with microwave transmitters all pointed inward. Who knows, maybe the NSA has a way of using this to spy on them.

Improved safety and reliability of aircraft navigation. Fuel savings, fewer aircraft diversions due to weather. Saves money. Free market, dude. Deal with it.

None of which is true because we're not talking about US GPS. Don't care what happens to Russian craft, that's on them. Free market has nothing to do with it.

You're aware that Russian commercial aircraft operate in the US, right?

This story is on Faux too, something about Obama appeasing Putin or something. More Fuaxrage now. Maybe it will be as big as Benghazi before long.

Right... I say you make unsubstantiated statements, and that means I hate the USA. Are you Uncle Sam or something?
