Would you have shot this unarmed young lady in the face for knocking on your door?

It looks like someone needs to start rewriting a lot of old jokes.
No. The shooter appears to have claimed that the shooting was accidental do you have evidence to the contrary?

I find his claim a bit of a stretch, but then I don't know all the info.

    Not the case at all.

    Why?
It was Oh-dark-thirty in the morning. Someone had been pounding on his door. Tensions are heightened.
She may have moved in such a manner that it startling him, causing him to flinch and resulting in his gun discharging.
If so. That is an accident. Not intentional.

Why should I be wasting my time looking for any evidence to the contrary?

Obviously the shooter can claim whatever he wants to claim, but anyone who kills an unarmed person who knocks on their door, looking for help, has a serious problem which won't be resolved on this website.

The man is going to be put on trial.

I predict that he won't like the results.

Indeed they do, thus the filing of criminal charges.

You usually don't come to the opinion that someone is trying to break-in from simply knocking.

If that was you or one of your relatives that this guy shot, would you be OK with his actions?

That doesn't and shouldn't have any bearing on properly charging him.
