A group of congressional Republicans introduced a resolution Thursday to call for the impeachment of Attorney General Eric Holder, alleging Holder had committed “high crimes and misdemeanors” during his tenure as head of the Justice Department. The resolution was introduced by Rep. Pete Olson, R-Texas, who claims Holder has committed “the offenses of lying to Congress, refusing to comply with a subpoena, and failing to fulfill his oath of office.”
Olson cites Holder’s unwillingness to cooperate during the investigation into the botched Operation “Fast and Furious, his refusal to prosecute those involved IRS targeting of conservative groups, his failure to enforce laws including the Defense of Marriage Act, and his “false testimony” about the DOJ’s monitoring of Fox News journalist James Rosen as articles that are grounds for impeachment.
“For nearly five years, Attorney General Holder has systematically deceived Congress and destroyed the credibility of the Justice Department in the eyes of the American people,” Olson said in a statement.
Olson was joined by 19 other Republican representatives in the resolution.

Don't know how far they will get with this, but I gotta say, it's about time someone started going after this corrupt administration.

I too think it will fizzle. But it never hurts in the long run to try and do what is right and best for America.

Holder should be in prison.

The Democrat controlled Senate isn't going to take down one of their own, truth and morality be damned.

Ain't gonna happen. All of DC doesn't have the character and integrity to really go up against a president whose approval ratings have been as good as O's have been. The American public wouldn't get behind it as a whole, and without public support, I expect this to just be a symbolic move.

I don't hear Republicans praising Unitary Executive Theory as much as they used to now that a Democrat is in the White House.

Are you paying attention lately?

"In the first week of November in the fifth year of their presidencies, Obama and Bush have nearly identical approval numbers, according to the latest Gallup polling.

In fact, Bush comes out one point ahead, 40 percent to 39 percent, respectively.

The Gallup daily tracking poll for November 5th 2013 puts Obama’s approval at 39 percent, with 53 percent disapproving of his job performance.

By comparison, polling for the first week of November in 2005 had Bush’s approval at 40 percent, with 55 percent disapproving of his job performance."

Five years in, Obama and Bush poll numbers nearly identical

Obama's rating is actually worse than Bush's at this point.

Oh, what war is he invoking this for?

The war against his own people?

It's unfortunate that the only way he gets called on lying to Congress is with a Congressional vote. It's a crime. Why isn't he simply prosecuted for it? If I lie to the FBI, I'm prosecuted. It doesn't take an act of Congress. It's a flaw, in my opinion.

Yes, I realize that, but there is no denying that his popularity has been sustained in spite of various issues over the time of his presidency. There are other factors which feed into my thoughts that nothing will be done, and I will be completely shocked if anything ever comes of it.

Ok, If you are saying that we have an entire year, and that is a long time to sustain such low approval in this Presidents case, then I would agree....But, if we get to this time next year, and Obama is still struggling with scandal, after scandal, and continuing to lie, and get caught doing so, I think that the mid terms could be disastrous for demo's.

I hope that you are right, but I don't have much faith in the voting populace of this country anymore to make good choices, based on what is best for the sustainability of our country.

The FBI also is an Executive agency if I'm not mistaken.

The House Republicans could formally find him in contempt of Congress. In fact, it did and even a few Democrats joined in.

House votes to hold Attorney General Holder in contempt of Congress | Fox News

This should have trigger the Justice Department taking the matter to a grand jury, basically for Holder to present Congress' contempt finding to a grand jury.

However, Holder apparently decided he is also the president and granted himself an executive pardon and immunity from prosecution.

Really, to be accurate, we should refer to him as "Supreme President and Ruler Eric Holder."

Olson will be called racist, and a southern nigger-hater. They'll probably claim he's with the KKK.

You are clueless as to what playing the race card is.

Re: House Republicans introduce resolution to impeach Attorney General Holder

Either way.....this will be more pressure on Obama. Letting him get it from all sides. Keep up the pressure and just don't go after Holder half assed. Bring it to him.....Holder is weak mentally. Lets not forget he almost bailed on Obama once before.

Not race card. Race card card.

Because if it was the purview of the DoJ, you'd end up with the executive branch prosecuting itself rather than Congress having a check on the activities of the executive branch.

Washington's history is chock full of party-line votes that had nothing to do with either truth or morality.

Oh, okay. That's why we have "special prosecutors." That makes sense.

Yep. Those are the cats that get appointed to investigate and prosecute any time there's a significant conflict of interest. Kinda like how judges will sometimes be called in from outside a jurisdiction where a matter so hot or so dirty has to be overseen that no local judge can or will touch it with a 10-foot pole.

Re: House Republicans introduce resolution to impeach Attorney General Holder

Much as Holder has been a piss poor excuse for an Attorney General... I find it so ironic whenever congress in general tries to go after anyone.

It is one of the most corrupt institutions on Earth, whether it's the President, a baseball player who's been juicing, or the attorney general.

Congress as a unitary body should not be allowed to sit in judgement of anyone.

They are just as corrupt scum as the people they go after.

Eh? Bush had 55 disapproval and Obama 53.. how can Obama's be worse?
