House Republicans introduce resolution to impeach Attorney General Holder[W:65]

What lack of consistency? I pointed out the Repubs are currently swinging around the Impeachment hammer like it's a toy. If you have a problem with someone pointing out conservative hypocrisy, then conservatives should stop being hypocrites.

A hammer ? That's a bit hyperbolic, don't you think ? Holder should be impeached and politicians should be held to account for breaking the law or stonewalling when the law has been broken.

If you want them to stop then next time, try taking a whole 3 minutes and vet your Presidential candidate. That way you wouldn't have to be held responsible for the election of a liar who will no doubt drag in corrupt ex-clinton democrats as appointments.

I'm frankly astonished that Holder has stayed on this long after how many gaffes and embarrassing situations he's created for the administration, and I'm personally no fan. However I can't believe we would waste time and political capital trying to pass another symbolic censure resolution against Holder and think by upping the ante to impeachment we'll get more credibility. We should be focusing on the ACA and the unique opportunity we have to make some real headway, not clowning around with fodder for email newsletters. This is silly. I'm disappointed.

Like I said I don't see it going anywhere in this climate, but I sure would like to see someone held accountable....This is the most out of control, corrupt administration I can recall, and no one wants to step up for the people against this crap.

I'm generally an opponent of the Obama administration, but I think it is extreme hyperbole to call it the most 'out of control, corrupt administration'. That being said Holder has done an awful job of representing the Justice Department from A to Z. But I'd prefer my representatives to focus on governing instead of measures designed to generate constituent attention.

Can any previous president compare with this? 65 Outrageous Lies by President Obama - YouTube

The President blamed the bureaucracy he set up for the the BHOcare fiasco.nation's health care system is virtually incapable of handling it.

'It is so bureaucratic and so cumbersome that a whole bunch of it doesn't work or it ends up being way over cost."

He blamed Fox News. Neil Cavuto Destroys Obama Over Blatant ObamaCare Lies - YouTube

On the other hand perhaps you can point to some achievements this President made or when he may have said something honest.

Yes, most of them can. Conflicts with the media, tightly controlling messaging, and misconduct in various federal departments is par for the course. Though my biggest issue with the Obama administration has been it's extremely aggressive approach to the media.

I agree with you. I think this attempt is bound to leave egg all over the Republicans. I personally think Holder is one inept individual who uses his office of AG to push his and the president's political agenda and not to enforce this countries written laws as passed by congress. But just because he is a political hack is no reason to try to impeach him. It will not go anyplace and could end up with worse consequencies than the shut down for the Republican Party. I would advise the Republicans to cease and let him be. The way he is going he will probably step on it big time at sometime in the future and then it may be time to revisit impeachment.

Greetings, Pero. :2wave:

I'm taking a risk of sounding snarky here, but how big should the pile be at some time in the future? Suing States for following our laws on immigration, which the administration refused to do, seemed very unjust to me at the time, for several reasons.

1. It put illegals ahead of those who were following the law!

2. It put those States being overrun by hordes of illegals at a monetary and societal disadvantage, and tied their hands in dealing with it. The very name of the Justice Department was called into question because what they did was not just, but a political move! Until recently, I thought justice was the same for all of us, but apparently I was wrong. Illegal aliens are not lawbreakers after all, I guess, but merely opportunists who don't believe laws apply to them? Got it! :bs:

That seems like political strategy versus moral action, a sin of omission. We can understand both arguments.

Re: House Republicans introduce resolution to impeach Attorney General Holder

About bloody time.

Having an open criminal in charge of the DOJ is an embarrassment - and insane.

Don't know how far they will get with this, but I gotta say, it's about time someone started going after this corrupt administration.

This really is utter nonsense - I know Republicans are as dense as bricks, but why would they do anything at this time when Democrats and the President are drowning in the cesspool of Obamacare that they created themselves? One really has to ask how America became the great country it is with such dolts leading both political parties.

Be as snarky as you may be. What I am looking at is the chances of impeachment actually going through. First I doubt if it would even make it out of the House Judiciary committee. Unless the charges are cut and dried, looking at the members I can see where 5-6 GOP members would be tentative to go along. Of course with all the Dems voting against, it would fail in committee. But I could be surprised. I imagine if it did get out of committee, it should pass the House. But so soon after the shutdown which cost the Republicans dearly, all it would take is the defection of 15 of their members for it to be defeated there.

Then even if it passed the house, the senate will not convict, period. Remember, politics is the art of the possible. So why try something that at the moment is doomed to fail. Independent voters wouldn't go along with this either and you may find out that public support is 65-70% against such an impeachment. I just hope the Republicans learned from their fiasco of trying to impeach Bill Clinton. Impeachment needs to be fairly bi-partisan. Not something that looks like one parties vendetta against someone in the administration which this would look like.

However it would detract from the mess of Obamacare and serve as a diversion for the Democrats. They would prefer the heat goes to Holder in a situation where the GOP cannot win anyway. The focus should remain on Obama, his lies and his overall incompetence.

Mine would be more on a political strategy view point. It is said politics is the art of the possible. At this time I think any successful impeachment try is doomed to fail, it doesn't stand a chance. I would be very careful not to be roasted on one's own petard. To be successful impeachment has to be fairly bi-partisan. It is either that or it is all for show.

It will demonstrate to the voters the need for voting in more Republican Senators instead of throwing their votes away on some Libertarian.

I think you're dreaming. Not only to you have to have the political support in congress and as I stated, fairly bi-partisian. You also have to have the public's support which isn't there at the moment. If tried it will most likely go down as seen as a political partisian vendetta. The Republican Party is very weak in the eyes of the over all electorate at the moment, what strength they have they can't afford to waste it on something that will not happen. My opinion.

Quick, was Alberto Gonzalez, Janet Reno or whomever the **** it was in office during Ronald Reagan's presidency impeached? It's a simple yes/no answer. Because for Holder's impeachment to have a hint of legitimacy what he's done has to be so much worse than what other AG's have done.

As for "my president" you have no idea whom I voted for or even if I voted.

That's the level of maturity I've come to expect from you and you never disappoint. Any plans on calling me poopyhead or are you saving that gem for the next time you have nothing to add?
