    Definition of 'Progressive Tax'

A tax that takes a larger percentage from the income of high-income earners than it does from low-income individuals. The United States income tax is considered progressive: in 2010, individuals who earned up to $8,375 fell into the 10% tax bracket, while individuals earning $373,650 or more fell into the 35% tax bracket. Basically, taxpayers are broken down into categories based on taxable income; the more one earns, the more taxes they will have to pay once they cross the benchmark cut-off points between the different tax bracket levels.
    Investopedia explains 'Progressive Tax'

The U.S. progressive income tax is effectively a means of income redistribution. Individuals who earn more pay higher taxes; those taxes are then used to fund social welfare programs that are used primarily by individuals who earn less. Critics of the progressive tax consider it to be discriminatory and believe that a flat tax system, which imposes the same tax on everyone regardless of income, is a fairer method of taxation.

Pb doesn't do well when confused with facts. Probably the last you will see of him until he comes back later with the same tired old argument. Wonder what it is about liberalism that creates his kind of loyalty?

One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs.... John Rogers

Never get tired of posting the truth and asking an Obamabot a question that millions would like to have answered. You are fixated on an ideology that is a failure yet continue to promote it, why?

We, the people are responsible for it. We do not like this tyranny and we do not like this tyrant. Both must be undone. The five who decided this were irresponsible and unlawful. I dearly hope they get a chance to regret their actions.

..... after our the USA is a nation which has a government of the people, by the people and for the people.
The use of past tense is appropriate. This people no longer has that sort of government.

It is no longer a federal government. It is a national government that rules against the will of its people.

What is it about the ideology that you perceive a failure?Would it be the ideology that wants to provide healthcare for the 45000 people that die in our country each year do the the lack of proper healthcare that you consider a failure? If so, what is the small r,s answer for the problem?
The haggardness of poverty is everywhere seen contrasted with the sleekness of wealth, the exhorted labor of some compensating for the idleness of others, wretched hovels by the side of stately colonnades, the rags of indigence blended with the ensigns of opulence; in a word, the most useless profusion in the midst of the most urgent wants.Jean-Baptiste Say

Isn't that already happening under the kingship of Barrack Hussein Obama, the Liar-in-chief?

The ideology that believes it is the government's responsibility to take over personal responsibility issues and a federal govt. that tells a private citizen what they have to buy. That ideology. Freedom of choice to a liberal only seems to mean support for liberal programs like abortion and same sex marriage, never the choice to succeed or choose not to buy healthcare insurance.

Liberalism is all about spending in the name of compassion yet I have yet to have a liberal explain to me what is compassionate about govt. dependence and a 17 trillion dollar debt?
