The United States will stride past Saudi Arabia and Russia to become the world's top oil producer by 2016, the West's energy agency said, bringing Washington closer to energy self-sufficiency and reducing the need for OPEC supply.

But by 2020, the oilfields of Texas and North Dakota will be past their prime and the Middle East will regain its dominance—especially as a supplier to Asia, the International Energy Agency (IEA) said on Tuesday...

Now can we get to the business of not listening to much to what the Saud and the Sunni have to say?

What other Mainstay besides Oil, does the Saud have to give to the world? Do they have anything else they can offer.....in order to be given relevancy? As being Arab.....isn't enough.

So their man made false religion is all they have to offer? Their so called Prophet Mohammed, the man who gave up being Holy to become a business man and then was killed for shady business dealing. That's it?

Uh oh.....that means there is no reason to give them any power or countries to rule. Nor any reason to take any **** from them ever again.

Meh, usual obligatory bow to peak oil nuttery.

That damn Obama and his oppressive energy/oil policies. Conservatives told us for years Obama was doing everything he could to kill the oil business, and now we see just how right they were...

It's Bush's fault! Wait, that's not right.

we have a Sunni partnership; another reason I'd rather see the US become more neutral/broker in the region

Hey, Bush is not in office any longer. You cannot keep blaming him.

All you need to know is that when you head to the gas pump and you see prices dip below $3 a gallon, blame Obama.

Exactly.....they accept nothing including the facts and the truth.

Yes.....that is unfortunate.

since the Sunni/Shia schism is not going anywhere, might as well play both sides.
Keep the Israeli "special relationship", keep the UAE naval base. Negotiate with Iran, the Shiite Crescent.
All of which tends to marginalize the Russians. Now we gotta stop screwing around with Egyptian internals (Obama's militay sanctions)

I don't know about it going below $3 bucks...but I wouldn't be upset if it did.

We don't have any US naval bases in the UAE, you are thinking of Bahrain of which there is only one which is in Manama.

The average price of a gallon of regular gas now stands at $3.19, according to AAA, after falling by about a penny a day for the last week. The steady decline has taken the average price below $3 already in six states -- Missouri, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Texas, Kansas and Louisiana. Another six states are enjoying an average price within a nickel of that benchmark and could dip below three dollars soon.

But $3 gas isn't just limited to these 6 states.

Nearly 20% of gas stations nationwide are already charging less than $3 a gallon for regular gas, according to the Oil Price Information Service. And those stations are selling far more than their share of gas.
Gas under $3 - coming to a station near you - Nov. 11, 2013

It's been $2.97 here for a week. About 40 minutes down the Interstate, it's $2.88.

They were entirely right, that he was TRYING.

-illegal moritorium on gulf drilling
-slow down and rejection of permitting
-blocking of Keystone pipeline
-attempts to pass carbon credit scheme
-epa attacks on fracking
-congressional proposals for higher gas taxes

Luckily theres plenty of oil on non federal lands, which is where the growth has been. Federal drilling had declined. And Republicans have kept Obama busy on other things.

Of course. When something good happens, it is despite Obama and when something bad happens, it's because of Obama. Perfectly logical.
My state taxes are too high for that. I paid $3.51 this morning.

Very jealous of you two.
Sounds like Illinois. I live close to the border, and it's amazing the difference in price.
