Washington (CNN) -- Oklahoma lost another round in its effort to restrict abortions when the U.S. Supreme Court Tuesday declined to hear an appeal in a case that would force women seeking an abortion to have an ultrasound first.

The justices, without comment, refused to accept the state's appeal over HB 2780, which would require healthcare providers to perform an ultrasound scan before terminating a woman's pregnancy.

The Oklahoma law was so egregious that courts in Oklahoma itself had shot it down. It would have required women and their doctors to have ultrasound and, if necessary, images obtained from vaginal insertion. The woman, of course, could refuse to look at the images obtained, but the vaginal insertion is degrading enough.

Another law, a religious one, disguised as a so-called law to **cough** protect the health of the woman **cough** has been laid to rest by people who have a brain to figure out what the real motive was in passing the law.

This is another law passed by people who claim they hate big government, but are more than willing to have big government, if it meets their extremist agenda. Thankfully, the courts are not so extremist.

"Extremism" == the desire to protect unborn babies?

Abort all the kids you want; it's not my business.

But try to stick to a rational definition of 'extreme' eh?

I'm okay with the state courts shooting down this law, not okay with the federal courts doing so. In addition, the dumb meme about those hating big government passing big government laws betrays those who have forgotten that applies to the federal government, not the states.

Extremism in method, not in the goal.

So, what, it doesn't matter whether or not there's a jackboot on your neck as long as it's a local jackboot?

The Federal Courts did not shoot down the law. State courts in Oklahoma did. The Supreme Court only refused to hear the case.

Even in your distorted and loaded example, yes, it does matter. It's matters constitutionally and in terms of representation. It's matters if you placed the jackboot on your own neck from your own choice as opposed to it being placed by someone else, from somewhere else.

Like I said, I'm okay with that.

Fair enough; but that is subjective opinion.

In my mind killing a baby is extreme, so having the would-be mother confirm that she is electing to end it's life makes sense.

"oh, it's a baby, maybe this is wrong" is the intended response, I'm guessing - which doesn't seem extreme IMO.

It's like showing a heroin addict a video about how heroin destroys your life before taking heroin.

(maybe that is wrong ... but it seems wise on the surface - and honestly I'm a 'free will' type, so by all means, inject, abort, etc)

If I was a woman that was made pregnant by a rapist, I would be OK with the ultrasound, as long as the doctor paints a target on it.

I'm a registered voter. I have the same say in Federal jackboots as I have in State jackboots. I have just as much representation.
