Felons could have been hired as ObamaCare 'navigators,' Sebelius tells Senate panel

Felons could have been hired as ObamaCare 'navigators,' Sebelius tells Senate panel | Fox News

WASHINGTON – Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius admitted Wednesday that it was possible convicted felons could be hired as ObamaCare ‘navigators,’ giving them access to personal information like Social Security numbers and addresses of anyone signing up for the program.
Cornyn pressed, “So a convicted felon could be a navigator and could acquire sensitive personal information from an individual unbeknownst to them?”

    Sebelius answered, “This is possible.”
No background checks for people with access to Social Security numbers and other personal information?

Hope none of you have signed up yet. As if you could have.

    Felons need jobs too.

Are you aware that prisoners (i.e. cheap labor) are use to telemarket? They also get information and credit card numbers. Presumably they are closely supervised and thus are given a chance to help pay their upkeep and hopefully prepare them for a crime-free life.

On the surface, this may look inappropriate. But in reality, it's a reasonable, cost-effective strategy. There are plenty of criminals out there that haven't been caught that access information. At least we know where to find these guys.

Indeed - and they get to keep their health insurance plan too - right from the government prison plan to the government employee plan - Obama has to keep his promise to at least some, doesn't he?

Really, for cost effectiveness, Obamacare paperwork should be done in prisons to put those criminals to work for their keep.

But a better idea would be to farm it out to India, Eastern Europe and Nigeria.

I missed that - so these are still incarcerated felons, not the on the street felons. Is this one of the "lowering costs of healthcare" selling points that Obama was touting? "Our navigators only get paid $6 a day", reducing the administration/overhead costs of these exchanges - brilliant!!

I don't have a problem with it. It's nice to see some economic efficiency in the government.

Perhaps Bernie Madoff can handle the actuarials.

Just wait - some liberal and/or the SEIU is going to demand if they're working for the government they must be paid to union scale.
