The Obama administration has been claiming that insurance companies will be competing for your dollars under the Affordable Care Act, but apparently they haven’t surveyed the nation’s top hospitals.

Americans who sign up for Obamacare will be getting a big surprise if they expect to access premium health care that may have been previously covered under their personal policies. Most of the top hospitals will accept insurance from just one or two companies operating under Obamacare.

Lie Number Two

Something that may have been lost in all of this discussion,
is how this will affect medical research?

How do you "Opt Out" of Obamacare?

How do you "Opt Out" of Obamacare?

You don't accept insurance that is sold on the exchanges. Medical providers are still free to pick what insurance plans they will take.

Your policies are not transparent. A Blue Cross policy purchased privately is coded differently than a Blue Cross policy purchased through an ACA exchange. Healthcare providers are not universal providers.

I suspect that this will be similar to the private vs public hospitals. If you receive any type of state funding you will be required to see anyone that walks through your doors (in an ER setting) whereas privates can refuse to treat unfunded patients. Lots of moving parts still. The reality is no one knows.

They might be running out of fingers to stick in dykes.

Well, that is certainly interesting. I had no idea that they even could. I would venture a guess that there will be a stop put to that practice, in fairly short order.

pull your head out of your ass this was warned by republicans their media sources and their think tanks for years, but I guess you believe the left and their lame stream media telling you they were all liars

and sure lets force doctors to accept Medicare/Medicaid and other insurance lets drive more doctors out of the profession

and you call your self a libertarian? wanting to force a doctor to give up his individual liberty to decide what he does and doesn't do. you have no clue on libertarianism

Those people who buy their insurance through the exchanges is about 5% and I would venture a guess these are not people who go to the "top hospitals"

Which Top Hospitals Take Your Health Insurance Under Obamacare? - US News and World Report
Considering the number of people that will have their insurance cancelled for them, the odds are long that a lot more will be signing up. Its not just top hospitals...it is independent providers as well.

Say hello to community health care and massive ER waits.

So 5% more people will become insured under Obamacare? Wow, I'm glad that we have "affordable care for all" now.
Lets not forget the millions that are going to be forced off of their policies. And their families. The deck has been pretty well stacked to force people to buy into the ACA debacle.

I'm not sure how in the hell you ever determined that I support Obamacare even one little bit. I'd say you don't pay much attention around here, if this is the case.

I kind of expected this to happen and it's one of the reasons why I've always felt that this is just basically a stop gap matter for many Democrats who are taking essentially a long term view of this.

The reality is that this method is a half-assed method of dealing with insurance. It's neither a consumer market driven reform nor a governmental ran method of reform...but a poor attempt of trying to merge both that simply does not work.

And it's common sense that it's not going to work. It's common sense that some businesses are likely to simply take the tax penalty over paying for insurance, or that some hospitals and providers may just wash their hands of the exchanges all together, or that insurance companies were going to take action to make a plan financially viable that would disqualify plans from being grandfathered, and on and on.

And when these perfectly expected and predictable things end up occuring...as people suggested they would back when this thing first passed....then Democrats will step back and go "See! We tried to not do single payer and 'greedy business' just wouldn't get on board. Don't you see, we HAVE to do single payer!"

When in reality they implimented a system that gave little to no incentive for businesses TO actually get on board and basically expected businesses to act like charities rather than well...BUSINESSES....and ultimately was basically set up to fail from the onset if you actually looked at it with a reasonable and realistic view.

It goes back to the reality that neither side really LIKES what this is. Which is all the more reason that Obamacare is hardly an end point, it's simply a transition point. The question simply comes down to which side is going to articulate the blame better....will the public buy the fact that it's private industry causing the problems and that we need to trust the Democrats and Government MORE? Or will the public be negative towards those who originally pushed this reform and buy the Republicans arguing that over reach of government caused the private sector to buck?

Only time will tell. But I'd be shocked if 16 years from now that the PPACA is still the "baseline" legislation on which our healthcare system is built upon.

Those people who have their insurance cancelled must be offered a new policy by the insurance company.

The ER waits will be greatly offset by the availability of a clinic or primary care, as opposed to now when they have no choice.

At what rates?

This system is designed to fail. And it will. The failure will be used as the 'cause' for promoting universal health care which has been their intent all along.

Well but they wanted a public option all along, and fell just short of the votes for it in the senate. The bill that passed the house would have been actual reform that could conceivably work. Perhaps that will be along the lines of how it ends up.

According the navigators, if they cant find an available local provider (and there arent a ton of those in the works) then their 'solution' is pay cash for the office visit or go to the ER. Thats just a reality right now.

It is disappointing Obama did not go for the UHC from the start.

then why is it surprised? why didn't you know about it? it was told by republicans time and time again they even wrote a bill to try to keep this from happening and it was voted down by the dems in the senate all the dems in lock step

Why am I surprised that top hospitals can even opt out of taking patients with obamacare policies? For exactly the reason I strongly oppose obamacare. Because it is an attempt by government to gain control over our health care and our choices. Please tell me you can understand this concept.
