WASHINGTON — Almost half of young, single, uninsured adults in 34 states could pay $50 or less a month for insurance through the online exchanges after receiving subsidies, according to a study released by the Department of Health and Human Services on Monday. The HHS study said there are 7.2 million uninsured Americans 18 to 34 in single-person households in the 34 states. Of that total, there are 2.9 million who are eligible to buy insurance on either federal or state partnership insurance marketplaces.
Of those 2.9 million young people, HHS found that 1.3 million, or 46%, could pay less than $50 a month for a bronze plan. The exchanges offer coverage from the bronze to platinum level. Bronze is the cheapest.
About 1.9 million of uninsured young people in those 34 states, the study showed, could pay $100 a month or less for health insurance with the tax credits.

Lets get this website up and running to make it a lot easier to apply for these plans.

How many of these folks can afford the $5K deductible and $60 co pays for the "free" annual services?

HHS said it? They certainly haven't lost any credibility over past few weeks.

This article is a classic example of propaganda.

Obamacare is literally melting down before our eyes. There's no way non-subsidized policies will EVER cost 50 bucks.

I just called an insurance broker and he said there are currently no plans available for those numbers.

Speculation is hogwash

It's not speculation. It's a propaganda piece that HHS threw out tuere as a soke screen.

You do realize under the Hatch act its illegal to do that correct?

I wonder what the deductible and out of pocket costs are for people who have no insurance?

Hmmmm.

Well then, they're breaking the law too.

Well by releasing a report that really isnt partisan other than its not what conservative want hear... I fail to see how that is "propaganda".

It's legal because it would be illegal if it wasn't.

YOU were the one saying they violated the Hatch Act by releasing this deliberate lie as propoganda to get more folks to willingly queue up. How is it not propoganda. It's a deliberate untruth told to entice a target population.

Hmmmm.

Our hospital gives you a 10% discount if you pay in full with a credit card, so there you go......as if people with no insurance pay their bills to begin with. 4% collected of all billed charges does not put the number very high.

Hah. On a similar note, young people could have 100% copay for as low as $0.00 per month!

You're dreaming DS. The whole point of this ACA is to get the young "healthies" footing the bill for the sick people. That isn't happening at $50 a month.

(Reads Article)

HAH! "After Subsidies"... so the ACTUAL cost of insurance for these young healthy people will be considerably more than $50/month, but the middle class will be paying for most of it.

In short: #$%@ that noise.

What the article doesn't ask is, how many of those people even want to pay for health insurance in the first place?

If they don't want health insurance, it doesn't matter how cheap it is, it's still money out of their pocket that they don't want to spend.

No i said under the Hatch Act it would be illegal to release any partisan reports or "propaganda". This is not partisan or propaganda.

So its a lie just cuz you say so. Gotcha.

No, it's a lie because it meets the definition of a lie in the English dictionary... The president was told 3 years ago that it was a lie, and he chose to continue repeating it.

I'm still wondering what the maximum deductible is for people with no insurance

Over 2 million people have been bumped from their existing coverage and/or have found that enrolling in a different plan would cost them hundreds more than what they were already paying *each MONTH*

. . . . $50 for young and fit? I'm more concerned for the families who pay hundreds and got the shaft, only to have to pay hundreds more on top of that.
