NYT: Health Care Law Fails to Lower Prices for Rural Areas

Will the moochers die once the government quits giving them handouts? Eventually everybody will catch on to how good the moocher life is and will lower their income to gain access to the good life. It always happens in socialism. The system always grows and grows until it can no longer contain itself.

You can always get a good high paying government job and pretend you aren't bumming off the government. Lots of "conservatives" like to do that. It is more dignified than food stamps but serves the same purpose of advancing socialism.

Socialism is the best system in the world if there wasn't so many socialist. -unknown

You seem to be under the delusion that the poor live a rich life.

The moochers are the ones who can afford health insurance but don't buy it.

Wait, are you implying that if you can afford insurance and choose not to, you are somehow a bad person?

This doesn't surprise me. Rural health is a problem throughout the country. It's not just limited to NY.

So, it doesn't surprise me in the least to find that the cost of health care in rural areas is still high. The cause is simple: low access to doctors and health care facilities. This is why the PPACA has provisions in it in an attempt to address the issues surrounding rural health.

Minimum wage is $7.25 per hour. That equates to $15,080 per year if you work full time. Some people only work 25 hours a week because the boss doesn't want to have too many full time employees. That equates to $9,425 per year. I just bought an insurance policy for my wife and I. It costed $547 before government subsidies. My mortgage is $490.92. If someone earned $725 per month, their rent was $490.92 and their insurance was $547 they would have to put $312.92 on the credit card to survive and that's before they have eaten anything. If the person has bad credit this isn't even a possibilty. Yes, people in America live like this in 2013. Maybe not in 2007, maybe not in 2008, maybe not in 2009 but yes lots of people live this way. LOTS!

Wake up to reality. Not everybody fills out an application and gets a job making as much money as you. It just doesn't happen. Welcome to 2013.

Health Insurance is the #1 religion in the United States. Let me translate your words into a different format.

Wait, are you implying that if you know about the blood of Jesus that was shed on the cross for your sins and choose not to accept it,then you are somehow going to hell?

See, it's the same thing.

People who make minimum wage will get subsidies that make the premium affordable.

And according to your own words, you make considerably more than $725/mo. A $60/mo premium is affordable for you.

Yes but I know people that live this way. Contrary to popular belief these people would be willing to take a job making $50,000 per year. They just haven't got a job offer for that much money yet.

I am well aware that I am not the only person in the world.

What? Man, you really need to take "analogies 101", that was terrible.

Those subsidies come from taking money from other people, whose standard of living is now reduced. Punished for success to feed the guilt and greed of others.

People fanatically and without thought believe in Jesus. People fanatically and without thought believe they should buy health insurance.

I know a lady that makes $13,000 a year. She has no significant assets and spends $350 a month to protect those assets in the event of an expensive medical emergency.

I also know a deca-millionaire that has well....... tens of millions of dollars. He spends $350 a month to protect those assets in the event of an expensive medical emergency.

Would you like to guess why that lady buys health insurance? Answer: Because it's the responsible thing to do.

Would you like to guess why that decamillionaire buys health insurance? Answer: To protect his assets from loss.

Health Insurance is a religion. You don't pay $350 a month to protect $500 in assets. That's completely retarded.

Under ACA, her insurance premium will be $0.

She is 52 years old. Who is going to give her $142,800 back? At least she protected her couch from repossession from the hospital.

What $142,800 are you babbling about?

The money she chose to spend? Are you saying that the govt should have protected her from making bad decisions?

What an ironic position for a "conservative" to take! :lamo

No. I'm saying that Health Insurance is the #1 Religion in America. I have been saying that and I still believe it.

Now we have a state religion of Health Insurance Worship. Plato's Republic will be realized in 2014. It's a major success for elitist liberals that has been thousands of years in the making.
