They quickly added that because people couldn't get through the registration process to sign up. And they built it so one had to sign up before they could get estimates. They were trying to do what they should have done three years ago. Two separate processes . . . one to shop . . . one to sign up.

    What idiots.

I don't know about you, but I'm not gonna buy something without knowing what it costs, first.

I can understand the need to sign up, or at least give all your information, so that the software (insurance companies) can give you quote, before you buy in.

At least that's the way I think it was meant to work. But this thing is so screwed up, I doubt a reasonable explanation can define the real reason.

Further, it is being 'reported' by some who HAVE been able to navigate the website there is no way to assure that your medical providers are part of the policies available...I see this 'delay' happening and for much longer than previously imagined...

I think the underlying glitch is that your information is actually verified by linking with other governmental data bases, the IRS being one. This to determine for sure whether or not you get a subsidy. But that could have easily been handled by estimating the subsidy with a disclaimer that said something like: "When you sign up, we will verify the information you've entered and confirm the amount of this estimated subsidy. You will be given an opportunity to change your mind once your subsidy has been verified."

    Or somesuch.

But the thing is I got a quote outside the exchange and didn't have to 'give all my information'...I realize the purpose was to validate info for subsidy but that shouldn't effect the base price of a policy...but merely ascertain the 'discount'.

CNN reported today that there are now a number of Democrats in Congress calling for a delay in the individual mandate. Sounds kinda familiar, doesn't it.

It asked me in the beginning if I thought I would get a subsidy. I said no. It still didn't work real well, and I had to go through a number of different pages, back and forth, reloading pages, to get it to work. In fact, I didn't get my quotes until I logged off and back on.

Suffice to say, the system is not working.
