Drone strikes killing more civilians than U.S. admits - human rights groups [W:165]

Re: Drone strikes killing more civilians than U.S. admits - human rights groups say

We are NOT at war with most of the places we're using drones.

True. We are at "war" with the people that are targeted and the population of the area are not preventing from attacking us. Do you really think we should allow people of whom we know the whereabouts to plan and organize attacks against our families and friends?

So in your mind, ANYTHING is justifiable as long as it's in "your country's best interest".

Drone strikes, assassinations, torture, infinite civilian death and/or destruction.....doesn't matter as long as somebody in "your country" deems it justified?

You would rather you and your kids are wiped out or dismembered?

Re: Drone strikes killing more civilians than U.S. admits - human rights groups say

I do not know if you have ever been targeted. If you have, I have found, the view on terrorists hiding in populations changes some. When my cousin was bombed, a number of people in the vicinity died or lost limbs. That makes you think. Especially toward the populations that allow the terrorists to hide. Also you would probably have thought about why it is important to make the business of terror deadly for the terrorists and those who allow them to do their work from within the populations camouflage.

So yes. If it is me or my family or my friends? I would prefer 30 of them dead to one of mine. As a matter of fact, tell you children that you would prefer them dead to 30 in Yemen.

This is why overly emotional people shouldn't be allowed in on the decision making process.

I'd prefer to not continue the cycle at all. So yes, may have to turn the other cheek from time to time.

In other words, you would prefer your kids be dismembered to doing something to stop it?

Re: Drone strikes killing more civilians than U.S. admits - human rights groups say

warhawks + drone strikes..... = more war for us....

Its as simple as that. Some warhawks actually WANT to kill civileans without it overblowing in our face. They want our war factor to always be up to date and practiced. The more hate they create the more they line their own coffers.

Anything else is a sales pitch as far as im concerned.

What you're advocating won't stop the cycle, it will merely perpetuate it. Bombs, destruction, and death will breed only further bombs, destruction, and death.

The intellectual dishonesty of your argument is your false dichotomy where you pretend it's either violence or nothing.

Then I guess we will vote differently. But did you tell your family you would prefer them dead and dismembered (that is the "other cheek" in this case) to doing something to prevent it? Tell you the truth, I don't think I like your attitude toward friends and family.

It all boils down to what you want to do to stop your family and your friends from being killed and dismembered. If you think that is okay.....

Tell you the truth, I don't like your overly emotionalized, intellectually dishonest, weak sauce arguments. So I guess we can both be disappointed.

What is emotional about not wanting to be killed or wanting your government to take responsibility to stop it from happening? As a matter of fact, it seems really odd, that anyone could want his family to be wiped out instead of trying to prevent it. Did you tell your "loved ones" that you would prefer to see them dead to the guy in Yemen being taken out?

As kids get dismembered by american tax payers as a matter of procedure.... what is truly more sick and twisted? Sick individuals bombing kids or 100% of all American taxpayers bombing little kids across the world? Your argument is nationalistic and one sided. At makes zero sense really. More kids die from car accidents cuz mommy has to get to work and drop little dude off at day care in a hurry than from terrorists. Yet you use this as an excuse to enable bombing of children though government channels. Makes ZERO logical sense in the end once you get past Nationalistic cheer leading and actually care about humanity as a whole.

This too is emotional. When people make emotional arguments what they are really saying is "please do not actually think of the problem or ponder the repercussions of your actions; just react!"

It behooves no one to embark on ignorant retaliation.

Seriously twisted logic.

By being at "war" we are sending our kids directly into the line of fire every single stinking day.

By using drones to strike into countries that are supposedly our allies we're guaranteeing that we'll have to continue to send our kids directly into the line of fire.

We've created a symbiotic relationship with our enemies.

It's truly become nothing more than a perpetual cycle of violence.
Unending.

You are sending our kids to die with that philosophy.

We are NOT acting in self-defense.
That's the problem.

You have convinced me with your sound argument. I think we should not only kill all the terrorists but we should wipe out the terrorist mothers and the baby terrorists too.

Seems to justify using nuclear weapons.
Been far too long since we've "tested" a good nuke on some actual humans hasn't it?

Lets try some out.

Certainly the most humane thing to do I'd think.

Plus, it makes great television. :) With the good guys winning and everything.

Isn't that what our enemies in Iran are trying to do? Oh, but it is to people we like. It is cool if we do it, but if they do it...bad. Got it.

LOL.

Just playing along. Trying to be silly.

^

Sure one can be flippant. But it is not an answer.

Re: Drone strikes killing more civilians than U.S. admits - human rights groups say

What's "flippant" is thinking killing children and civilians in other countries will prevent people in other countries from wanting to kill children and civilians in ours.

Twisted, cyclical, costly, and deadly logic.

Re: Drone strikes killing more civilians than U.S. admits - human rights groups say

Drone strikes can kill terrorists but they will multiply all the more.

The terrorists who are killed by drone strikes won't be doing any multiplying at all

Re: Drone strikes killing more civilians than U.S. admits - human rights groups say

Drone strikes killing more civilians than U.S. admits, human rights groups say - The Washington Post

"Two influential human rights groups say they have freshly documented dozens of civilian deaths in U.S. drone strikes in Pakistan and Yemen, contradicting assertions by the Obama administration that such casualties are rare.

In Yemen,
Human Rights Watch investigated six selected airstrikes since 2009 and concluded that at least 57 of the 82 people killed were civilians,
including a pregnant woman and three children who perished in a September 2012 attack. "

Is it time to stop the drone attacks?

Most terrorists are civilians, very few are members of any nations military forces.

Their ghost multiplies and radicalizes others. So they actually multiply.
