You spoke about the US. I then spoke about others.
Rampant spying allowed/allows others to catch up.
    I did that intentionally.

I think all this data mining is counterproductive, tbh. By casting such a wide net, there's such a huge influx of data that it becomes a situation where they are missing the small stuff because there is simply no way in hell they can manage that much coming in. All ethical concerns aside for a moment ... if you're after something, wouldn't it make more sense to selectively target surveillance rather than just troll millions upon millions of phone calls for data that would take people years to analyze? Or do they just have to know what Pierre is shopping for at the local grocer?
    Years to analyze?

Computers detecting specific words and phrases/words combinations which are then sent on to be examined by humans doesn't appear to take that much time, as it is being done.

Which allows the authorities to then selectively target.

Re: US ambassador summoned by French Foreign Minister over spyign claims.

Every country spies on other countries, including their allies, and have been doing this for a very long time. This is all just bluster. France likely has been (or at has been trying to) spy on us and Britain as well. It's fake outrage because one country being "outed" for spying could reveal a that the other countries are doing it too and then those who wanted to believe that this was all movie hype would lose some faith in their government.

And NSA spied into former Mexican President's emails (news 3 hours ago).

With that much data, even with computers chasing specific keywords, it could take who knows how long? Of course, nobody knows what they're looking for.

Oh come on. They are doing it so it likely doesn't take that long.

Of course they do. Specific words and phrases. Many which are known to us. Do your own search of them. I am not here to invoke their scrutiny.

It shouldn't be as they spy too.
